Best thing to do with standard non cup suspension

I bought a non cup 197 clio that i want to use for sprints, hillclimbs and trackdays.
What is the best thing to do with the suspension on a budget?
I don't think I can stretch to coilovers atm.
Am I better getting springs / cup springs / just leaving it for best handling?

Thanks in advance!

Cup shocks and some Eibach or H&R springs are generally recognised as being a good standard with Bilstein B14 coilies being the next good standard. Early 200 Cup shocks are harder than 197 Cup shocks and use the same topmounts.

There is a thread somewhere with the spring rates of various lowering springs, I’d go for the stiffest rears you can get and perhaps a middle rated front if you can find that combination

I started on a set of cup shocks and H&R lower springs as mentioned - track only car. For less than £200 outlay you can't beat that setup, and it was mighty on track. That's where my money would be going.
