Benno's UR197 & Meg 250

For £20 yeah! How strong the sticky pads will stay, I don't know. But I've got spare number plate sticky pads lying around so if they start getting loose, I'll pull them off and re-stick. Seem pretty sturdy and made out of decent material!

I remember thinking the same when I stuck my hydro dipped Carbon ones on...(Which may well be exactly same as yours effectively (?): "How long will these last" ?

Expected them to be stolen / jet-washed off....

Like any of this stuff....all about surface prep. Seem to remember mine not having much double-sided tape on and adding more, cleaning original badges with alchohol and warming both the tape and the original badge with a hairdryer.

Touch-wood, lucky rabbits-foot and all that: there still in place !!

So.....anyway....look good. But WHATS NEXT ?

Gave the car a wash and got right into the badges with a bit of tar and glue remover before drying up and sticking, so hopefully the same effect!

Well MOT is on the 13th Sep, so springs, spacers, rear caliper and a few other little boring things should be imminent. Caliper painting booked for the 25th/26th Sep, so FINAL answer on caliper/decal colour by end of next week.

Also in contact with a bodyshop to see if I can get the worst bits of body touched in before the 25th, which will allow me to get the car fully detailed by the guys doing the calipers at the same time!

Looking at my bank account to see if I can justify a private number plate soon...but waiting for bodywork quotes first. Best not get overexcited just yet.

You own a Clio AND have a bank account worth looking at ?

Show-off

Sounds like Sept is going to be a 'busy' month. Good luck with it all.....

Don't make me laugh. That's what an overdraft is for!

I joke, circa 275 working hours in July and a decent amount this month has left me with a little bit of money to spend on the old girl.

Itching to get the springs/spacers on now, really hoping it'll go through the MOT like that then I'll be on the way to really getting it up together.

Whole list of things in my head, will get a decent set of photos up next week and a to-do list!!

Holy shit ! We're scraping long and hard for 'shopping money' right now as we're off to New York at Xmas. I know I've done nearly 40 hours o/t so far this month....but 275 hours is ridiculous !! My god.

Makes the good things in life a little easier though hey and no-one gives it to you....

I needed this week off I've just finished I tell ya!! Absolutely massive coincidence it fell on a Bank Holiday weekend too..

I'm only 20, but I've always been the independent type. I know of one or two people my age driving around in brand new BMW m135i's, Fiesta STs and VXRs that daddy paid for...I much prefer my Clio..that I paid for, insured, taxed and so on and so on.

New York sounds brilliant. I'd love to get over there some day.

What industry you in bud ?

Obviously busy !!

Work for a coach company! Half Operations Manager and half driving too (insured on £200k coaches but still 'high risk' for a Clio Sport..)! We're flat out all the time. Quite a few big name clients demand a lot out of us, we're only a small firm in the grand scheme.

Should be going on courses soon to give me the ability to run my own firm. That's potentially the end goal. Wouldn't mind a cushty little office management job either though! [emoji28]

So the early morning starts have returned in style, back out in a LY beast after a week off but this one is Dutch not French..!

Really pushing to get the springs and rear caliper on now, want to get an MOT on it ASAP for 2 reasons..one's white and the other is yellow. [emoji16]

MOT booked for the 12th..springs, spacers, rear caliper and tie rod all to be fitted prior to test on the day. Then up for laser alignment and she should be sweet to go.

Getting ready for Trax now with the RS197 boys on Facebook, so I made my first purchase of the month...I thought if I'm going to transform it I may as well go all out and make it my own...only a cheap plate but one I am happy with and could possibly be used on a future purchase if the situation did arise..[emoji1303]

Whilst I get everything else in place, I've also made a cheeky little order to Royal for a new wheel and gear gaiter, hopefully here before the end of the month fingers crossed!

Paintwork is going through the motions and calipers are 100% booked in. All seems to be falling into place........

The only issue I'm having is oil..it really seems to be drinking it...I've gone through 5L in less than 8 weeks, confirmed by this at 5am this morning...

Any ideas of the first things to look at? Andy at ED said there was some light staining underneath but looked like nothing more than a little overspill whilst refilling, never been any patches under the car etc.

New number will look great buddy. Good get ! And Royals work just speaks for itself. You'll love that too. He's usually pretty quick considering how busy he must be.......

5L of Oil in 8 weeks is excessive. I've never heard of one like that before. Here or otherwise. Any idea of how many miles in that time (Some cars - are known / supposed to use some oil - and a ratio of say: 1ltr per 1000 miles given as guidance).

Did Andy have no further opinions on the matter ?

**For comparison and incase anyone else wants to chip-in with examples of oil useage: i've done 9k in mine in 17 months with 2 oil changes. I've not used enough oil to be able to register a change in level / need a top-up between those oil changes.

To be honest I didn't really recognise it as a massive issue when I was down with Andy, but he did categorically say it wasn't a leak (or one that would lose such an excessive amount..). I kind of just thought it was a Clio thing.

It was on 86500 give or take the oddsies when I had it serviced. It's now on 88900, so we're talking best part of 5L in just shy of 2.5k(not 3.5k.....)! I've booted it but certainly not all the time, I try and conserve fuel when I'm going to and from work which is the majority of the mileage...best order some more whilst I think about it..!

And to think I used to be good at maths......trying to make the problem seem less of an issue than what it is obviously!!

Ha ha. It's late

I'm no expert and certainly no car mechanic or Clio oil useage expert. And I wouldn't want to ring alarm bells unnecessarily.

But if you did the often quoted 'average' 12k a year - at current rates that's 25 ltrs of oil per annum....

Plate looks good. As said Royals work is amazing.
Might need a further/2nd opinion on the oil issue as that's a lot!!

Yep! Me being naive with all this stuff led me to think it was just a "high performance car thing"..

Going to get my mechanic who is doing the work on it to have another look for any patches of oil, if none are found then it could be investigation work..[emoji1304][emoji383]
