Anyone near London with Leather / Alcantara Recaros? + random pish thread

@Marsch no apology needed, no offence taken!

Kolsch is a wonderful drink! But there isn't much in the way of great breweries in Berlin. Franconia has the best stuff.

You do however have a Mikkeller bar on Torstrasse which will have an amazing selection of very good beer.

Whisky works too though!

I hope if you do get a go in a car with proper lightweight wheels you notice a difference but if it's the OEM 17's it wouldn't be enough, although you should definitely notice some extra comfort. Even just that extra bit of sidewall in the tyres (assuming similar overall rolling radius) would help for a nicer ride. Really though, to get the full effect you need to put them on your car as you'll be able to make a much more obvious comparison to what you know well. Hence me saying if ever you're over here you should try our Ultraleggera on your car.

Now that’s interesting.... I’m surprised you lot over there touch the stronger stuff and don’t stick with beer & pretzels

However I’m sure you could’ve found a better whiskey, something Irish :drunk:

Irish??? My god mate!!!

Whisky comes from Scotland, everything else is a pretender!

Better is! :sunglasses:

Kölsch isn't considered as beer here. You're wrong, very wrong actually...clicky. The best beer I actually drank so far came from the Swiss (Turbinenbraeu) but that was a wheat bear.

Like said I'm sporting H&R springs. So, I don't know what ride comfort is at all. I actually doubt a little more rubber would make much of a difference in that direction. Like I wrote somewhere in here it's something like 5mm more of "active damping material" if were talking about 215/45 compared to 215/40 and I'd say it'll depend more on what tires get used. AD08R's have reinforced side walls for example. I switched from RFT's to normal tube less not that long ago and there is no difference noticable at all if it comes to this.
Thanks for the offer but I've the suspicion you just want to steal my awesome looking and very rare rims.

What sort of crisps? And are they half leather half alcantara?

Something with sweet chilli. Like those Walkers Sun Bites wholegrain shenanigans, but from M&S.
No leather or alcantara, just toilet paper really, which is odd for a posh crisp.

Post of the month mate. Hand the prizes out now.

Those wholegrain sour cream and black pepper things are gorgeous. BUT they either need to put more in the bag and charge more (my preference) or make the bag smaller and charge the same (and make more profit due to smaller bags). I'm not happy paying for the experience of opening the bag to find it's only a quarter full...

But maybe that's just me.

Beer... ok, I might not know engineering very well, but beer I do know. Very very well. Well over 7,000 beer reviews online, tried getting on for 15,000, probably more. Many beers made with my name on it. Fourteen world class brewers made a special one-off beer for our wedding, etc etc. What I do know is that beer is personal preference, one man's trash is another's gold.

Kolsch is bloody lovely though. Especially in Germany. But nothing compares to being in Bamberg drinking rauchbier (smoked beer for anyone reading this who isn't Marsch!) at the source.

The ride and handling bit... that's not subjective, that's science. You understand it's about the finer points and the little changes can make a difference. And that's the point. It's the sum of everything that makes a car work well and a way more complex thing than I understand. But I know for certain, you'd feel a 4kg per corner wheel weight reduction. I don't mean in acceleration or as if you've gained horsepower, I mean everywhere. Driving feels better. The steering feels more direct, bumps aren't as jarring, and most importantly the suspension is better at doing the opposite of soaking up the bumps - keeping your wheels pressed into the tarmac more. Better contact between road and tyre means better grip. That side of it is actually more pronounced on the road. Especially in the UK...

There are people on here who would explain this way WAY better than I can but that's the essence of it. Look up Matt Becker from Aston Martin, he's a bit of a guru on the subject.

That doesn't for one minute mean your wheels aren't fucking gorgeous. They are. Absolutely no doubt.

Have a good one mate.

I had an RST! Compomotive wheels, Avo adjustables, Escort T3, Beige injectors, Bayjoo chip and around 200bhp. Looked like this (these are Ronal wheels but pretty similar):

I Had a black Frst when my 17 year old son was 2! Can't find any pics though. I spent ages putting it back to std. Then sold it to find they'd resversed all my effort! After that I Had a Couple of S2 Rst's

Must admit it lived in the garage more than I drove it.

@Mark_L

Mate that's a BEAUTY! Always liked those wheels back in the day.

My white Fiesta ended up pretty well modded and the opposite happened to me. I lost my job and was on my arse for a while. Fiesta sat on the drive so long it had moss and mould growing on it. Bloke knocks at the door one day, "can I buy the Ford on the drive" made me an offer I simply couldn't refuse at the time.

4 months later he messages me asking if I'd like to come and see it after he's done a top to bottom nut and bolt restoration back to OEM spec. My heart sank when I saw it. Wanted it back SOOOOO badly. Bet it's dead now.

J635LVM if I remember correctly. Loved it. My S1 Escort was the daddy though!

I sold it just over 4 years ago, 4th child on the way and needed a 7 seater!

The person wanted it as a weekend had to sit next to his 308 Ferrari!

Little lotus related, been working on this for a little while.

Fitted a fuel injection system, fast road cams, it's been painted and I've done some work on the interior. It's faught

Mark that's FANTASTIC. Hats off to you. Looks like you've shown it a LOT of love. The moment I saw the first photo I thought, "hang on, that can't be original paint..."

Glorious. Love the old Lotus. What sort of condition was it it? Were are you up to? MOT yet, or still work to do? Resto thread anywhere? More info mate please!

AWESOME!

Love this car! I had a mechanic friend called Charlie in the 80s who worked at the local Lotus dealership. They wouldn't touch cars over 3 years old & once his apprenticeship was over Charlie rented a barn from a farmer 1.5 miles down the road & set up on his own. The dealer referred customers to him once their cars hit 3 years old. Worked well. I have vivid memories of a spin in an Elite Essex edition & also of Charlie out road testing a unique Elite convertible prototype he had worked on & coming back into the yard with the brakes glowing red hot! Sadly he killed himself on his motorbike a few months later. He did drive everywhere at 100% so it wasn't a surprise. Great memories of a lovely guy & some wonderful cars.

No build thread.

Here's a few more pics though.

It's a track day car so has a couple of bucket seats up front.
