197 Rolling road results

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well i went with a friend to pick his 106 Rallye up from A T Speed in Raleigh today. They weren't to busy so the question was asked could my car be put on the rollers.

Now i've always felt that my car has lacked torque and a bit of power but, decided it was just me. Until i drove another 1 last weekend that is which felt so different to drive alot more torque and the power delivery was so much better then mine.

I have a Piper cat back exhaust and a K&N Apollo induction kit on it at the moment.

Any way it went on the rollers and and the results came back as 119 bhp atw's, and 93 lbft atw's.

I know the induction kit is going to take some of the power away from the engine but not like that (it is going to be replaced with the OEM box now). But surely thats not gonna bring the figures up amazingly isit??

This just really doesn't seem right and i haven't a clue where to go from here really?? Has anyone got some advice?

I have posted this on Cliosport as well, but thought i would post it up here to.

how many miles you got on the clock, 197s with higher mileage seem to be much looser and get higher power figures, the rollers might be off aswell.

I tried a K&N on ours years ago and it really knocked the power out it, sounded amazin though lol

Still, that seems low. Poorly 197?

It does sound so good, and I knew it would drop some power but surely not this much.

Im wondering what Renault are likely to say when i tell them its been rolling roaded.

I told them it was feeling low on power after it had the cold patch fix but they didn't seem to interested.

Its only just about to roll over to 22,000. So would have thought its fairly loose by now.

is that 22,000 miles of thrash or driving like a granny, put the standard airbox back on with an itg panel filter. you will be suprised how much power induction kits restrict the air flow.

I got it with 2k on it, but the 20,000 i've had it have been a bit of a mixture really.

Well i'm deffinatly taking the air filter off as to find a problem you have to go back to what you've changed. Although it would be quite difficult to put the stanard exhaust back on now and its only a cat back so that can't be making a difference can it?

I'd put the standard airbox and filter back in, then get it on an acurate rolling road. Where abouts u based?

I have had 4 CLios

Put a piper induction kit on one of them

It totally screwed it up

Don't mess with Clio's is my advice  and that's rare coming from me.

mines cat back and more or less made standard power, try putting the airbox back on and take it to tdf they know there apples.

My plan for Saturday morning is to put the standard airbox back on and reset the ecu, and then hopefully the next weekend i'll be able to get on the rollers.

I'm based in Hertfordshire.

TDF's not a million miles from you mate, good set of rollers there, plus thats were we had a rolling road day a few weeks back so it would be a good comparison

Where abouts is TDF? That would be good as mine was the 1st 197 they had, had on their rollers. I just really want to find whats causing this its bugging me so much.

Yer thats not to far at all, are they renault specialists or do they just heave a good knowledge of a lot of cars? I might have to make a trip up there if you think it might be worth it.

ohhh knowledge aint the word to describe matt!! i think he goes beyond that he's seriously got his head screwed on!

will deffo be the best place for you to go, im sure he'll get to the bottom on it

def put the standard air box on mate mine had an indution jit on and it wasnt a well car, when i took it to tdf to have a remap it was 10bhp down on a standard car and mines got a milltek aswell, so matt remapped it and it was running abit better but he said put the standard airbox back on and it should increase some more so thats what i did, went back last night and it was 12bhp up on the last run he did, it run 174bhp after the remap and it run 186bhp last night after putting the standard box back on it,
