    Weird Keyless issues

There is an ad on eBay advertising fixes for these Clio keys and they will put a new case on it for a bit extra. Might be worth doing for your spare

    Issues

Sounds like your car is pretty normal, you get used to all the quirks, some times I drive over a bulge in the tarmac on a B road and I let out a lound scream I’m so terrified of the loud bang the car makes.

With it off you can see all the mounting slots.

    Diffuser cleaning ?

The gloss black looks great, I have never liked Matt colours on cars as I enjoy seeing a shine on my cars, realistically the diffuser is going to get dirty and cleaning it requires some dedication.

Just catching up with your thread, well done on tackling this neglected car, why do people let them get this bad why not just buy a big standard Clio if your skint and don’t want to look after it! anyhow I had numerous issues with the keycard and ended up cutting it open and re-soldering the...

    Gear change crunch

It be the clutch not fully engaging if you notice it in all gears but if it’s 3rd and 4th it will be a gearbox out to see the damage I believe.

It looks so European i almost expected an ashtray on the dash next to an espresso coffee cup. That car will be worth a few bob in the future can’t be many like that around.

Part number: 638904490R. The badge I was describing was actually for the newer model, it looks like you need the whole thing you can’t just get the lettering.

I think you’ll need to get the bumper off to get behind the badge on that one, if it’s been sprayed I would think it’s been keyed so I doubt you could just soak it in acetone alone, you will need to go at it with some sand paper to get it all off, I personally used nail polish remover on my mk2...

A genuine one is around £40 and they have 2 prongs which guide them into the bracket, they are held on with double sided tape. Your best bet is to get one from a scrap car, personally I would clean up and respray what you have it will look ok once you get some sanding done.

I was thinking of cleaning behind the trim but I feel like I can’t see it so I don’t want to risk damaging the clips, the clips must have been pretty brittle with all that crud. The cars looks like it was left in the elements somewhere.

    1 Week in, 1K spent !

When I got mine I got a couple of bits done shortly after buying it, paint and dents all sorted circa £500, new keycard £250, snappy retrim £200 it soon adds up. I’m trying to fight the urge to do the alloys as they are not to bad but all these jobs you would do on most used cars to be fair.

If you have a gearbox fault say goodbye to a lot more than that.

    Spoiler... Yay, or Nay

Yay if it’s already on but nay if you don’t have one as they look sleeker and wider without.

Get some standard rear lights on the back, those look tatty , be careful pulling the rear light cluster away the two plastic prongs like to hold on and you can scratch up the paint by wiggling the cluster too much.
