Like the air con comment, the wife's has just packed up! If you can, jack the front of the car up and check bottom swivels (£200 each from Renault, but apparently you can get new swivels fitted) and inner/outer track rods for play. Ian.

When you say hub, do you mean the bottom swivel has play and needs replacing (it's part of a hub). If so, search some threads on here, the hub is approx £200 plus fitting. You can get the swivel pressed out/swapped for about £40, but need to remove the hub first and possibly send it away. I've...

Yep, phoned a couple of places to get them changed, but Renault wanted £450, indy never got back to me! Did them myself, needed to buy some female torx bits and allen socket bits, but did them on the drive! Took about 6 hours for the first on and 2 1/2 for the second! Ian.

Did os and ns joints on the wife's car-fiddley job, but did it on the drive-paid £200 a side, but wasn't aware of replacing the ball joints or any discounts , so paid full Renault price :-( Ian.

I replaced the hub/bottom swivel assy on the wife's. To get the nut off the top swivel, I undid the track rod end and had to use a ring spanner on it. Was a pain, but doable. Easier on the car as sideways put, as it's a tight bugger all the way to the end of the thread!

Read through a load of threads and I'm still confused. My wife's 197 sounds as if it's blowing around the joint from the manifold to the centre section, but it seems better when it's warm. I'm new to the 197, is this normal? Also, the section near the rear joint to the silencers/tailpipes...
