Hi all,
First time posting. Got my 200 back in January and has always had a slightly rough idle from cold but had read that it was common so didn't take much notice.
Drove the car down to Spain and on the way back we pulled in for fuel, and after paying the car would not start at all. Had been driving for about 8 hours in 35C and then 2 hours in torrential rain. Was towed away by recovery and after a few days I asked them to try starting it, to which they said it wouldn't.
Got the car recovered back to the UK, and the recovery loader driver starts it up and drives it off the truck! But was running very very rough.
I knew by then that the Crank Position sensor was a common one to go, so cleaned it up and ordered a new one, and the car was running much better. This was about 4 days ago.
Went to get in it this morning and first the central locking wouldn't work, so changed the key battery to get that working (only changed the battery about 3 months ago) and then it wouldn't start. Exactly the same as before - cranking/turning over but not starting. The Crank sensor turned up a few hours later so I fitted it, thinking it would solve the problem but it didn't. Still the same issue.
I've checked all the relays in the box under the second air intake, all seem fine.
Popped the connector off the left side of the rail - no fuel.
Not getting any spark.
Main battery fuse (inside red + terminal cover) are fine.
So I'm thinking it could be the:
- Immobiliser? - But when I turn the ignition on, the red dash light flashes normally (once every 3 seconds).
- Fuel pump/relay? - I think I can hear it priming, but it's very feint. Could be hearing things.
- Camshaft Sensor - Not sure this would cause a no-start though, maybe just rough running?
Any help or suggestions would be great, I'm sure someone has had something similar before. I've read about blocked scuttles potentially causing electrical issues, but mine looked fine and I coudln't find any signs of this.
Thanks!
