Megane 265 swap

Hi I'm looking to swap my engine which is a clio rs 197 cup to a megane 265 if possible, is there any help that you could give me on what I need to get to all work properly and possibly be 350bhp?

Many thanks

MK3 lumps seem to be very good for tuning so I don't see why you couldn't get 350bhp with an uprated intercooler/exhaust. The only issue is the torque, especially as you can only use the MK2 gearbox. May also be worth looking at how much it would cost to forge a MK2 engine.

Is there any possibility using the mk3 gear as well or won't it fit?
The mk3 gearbox won’t fit sadly..

best bet is to find a mk2 meg engine & gearbox, stick a hybrid turbo on and forge it.
@Big Ben has had it done and running somewhat 300ish plus bhp & torque which in a Clio shell is plenty.

At the end of the day depends what you want the car for? Could save your money, buy another Clio engine forge and supercharge that!

Someone has fitted a MK3 box in a Clio, but as above as far as I'm aware it's definitely not a straight fit.

My 197 has the 265 engine, and 225 box, running 320/340. The Engine/box/intercooler were fine, many other problems encountered, all now sorted, and car runs well. The 265 engine/225 box, will fit easily, the 250 box would fit, but needs bulkhead cutting, to get a good fit. Run the 225 rad, its has a larger capacity than the 197rad. A few people have overheating problems mine were overcome, after finding fan was blowing the wrong way around. I has sensor problems, all now replaced. Its easy to fit 225engine/box, and tune to around 280/300 torque, much more, and its best to forge. 250 engine goes to 320bhp easily, 360, with turbo change.

What's the possible power you could get out of a mk2 265 engine and mk2 gear box?
That’s hard to answer as it depends on what supporting mods you are adding.
A stock 265 engine with standard turbo will produce about 310-320bhp after mapping

Add on aftermarket turbo and crazy fuelling and 450+ is achievable

Do you know if its plug and play with the engine and gear box also do you need a new wiring loom with new keys because I currently have keyless entry and push button start on mine.

Engine dynamics or RSTuning can sort the loom and code the keys. Everything will work like factory

My 197 has a 265 engine running 320/340. The 225 Gearbox fits, but the 265 gearbox would need a lot more work.It was sold to me, with major overheating problems, which they tried to solve, by louvres in bonnet, removing grills etc., nothing worked!. I found by accident, that the Rad fan was the wrong way around!. Use the 225 Rad, as it has a larger capacity than the 197 rad. Most people use the 225 throttle body, I run the 250 body. Mine took more than a year to sort out many problems, but its well, well worth it.

I'm. In 2 minds. Got a supercharger bracket and could easily build the engine, but been offered a 265, engine, box, diff, shafts, for less than the charger alone..... I don't mind a bit of work to get it to fit
