Sideshowfreds Ultra Red 200 -- Fully Caged Track Toy

Not a lot has been going on. Lack of funds for the car and things to do with it has resulted in it sitting on the drive for the last couple of months. Took it out to a local car show after work yesterday with a mate in his Nissan Ps13. It was nice to give it a bit of a run. Next track time is booked for September then I think it will come off the road over the winter whilst I decide on my next move with it.

Another couple of months with not a lot happening to the car until last week. A rather frantic week with a local car show on Wednesday followed by the Mot on Friday lunchtime then onto Bedford Autodrome for the final Evo Track Evening of the year. I didn't do a great deal of miles but those I did were superb, really starting to push the car as we went into darkness. It actually surprised me how quickly I could turn into some corners once I became comfortable with the car moving about a bit.

I have also just sorted out the insurance for another year with a much higher mileage allowance. I'm in two minds what to do with this car in the future so let's see what the next 12 months bring! Brilliant Thread mate. Really really like the car.

Does the roof vent leak??
Only when driving in heavy rain. Luckily I've only had it happen once but now carry a roll of tape around with me ready to cover the front of it up if I need to!

I see some guys with a little pipe at the end of the interior housing, I thought that was some sort of a drain. Was thinking of fitting this to my road car (does about 25 miles a week).

It does have a drain point on the inside but I've not found a way I'm happy to route the pipe yet. I wouldn't bother on a road car, I've only got it as there is a plan to get rid of the air conditioning at some point and it's a very good way to get some cool air into the car when on track.

I'm really struggling with motivation for this car at the moment. With no trackdays planned due to lack of funds, and no further mods on the car for the same reason i'm starting to wonder what to do with it.

It feels like a waste to have it sat on the drive and it's too focused with the cage and seats to really enjoy on the road. I was already thinking of putting it up for sale at the end of the summer but i don't think i will get the money i'm after and wouldn't be able to afford anything fun.

On a rare day off work I decided to try and motivate myself with some productive cleaning. All wheels off followed by wheel cleaner than some fall out remover. Got to say I'm impressed how much came off the wheels as the barrels haven't been done since the wheels went on.

I then decided to get rid of the passenger b pillar strip as it was partly missing at the top. It's not perfect but gives a good idea what it looks like without it. Can't say I'm sold on the look currently but going to leave it as is and see if it grows on me.

Them wheels are immaculate! I quite like it without the B pillar strips too

I wish they were immaculate! The rears came up like new but the fronts aren't quite perfect. Much better than they were though.

I've been looking at trackdays as well to try and give the car something to do over the winter but not sure how long a drive i want in thedark!

Sadly without putting you off too much Donington in the wet is possibly one of the worst circuits for it.

It won't put me off, I know i'm taking a risk with the weather but it will be what it will be. I will probably be slow there anyway so won't rush myself no matter the weather.

It's the day after Donington and what a day it was! Definitely my new favourite circuit. Very cold drive up there and the paddock was very literally an ice rink.

Track was very slippy from the word go but started drying quite quickly down through Craners and the Old Hairpin. The rest of it took until lunch to really grip up. A very short but addictive lap.

Luckily I had no oversteer moments although I could feel the brakes wanting to lock up a couple of times when I was getting brave with braking points, actually thought I was going to spin it on the brakes at the end of Dunlop straight but somehow managed to keep facing the right way.

Most definitely a track I will be returning to in the future but hopefully not in single figure temperatures!
