POTM June 2018

Jimmy

Good cop
Firstly, apologies to everyone for the delay in getting this thread up and started - only a week late

Secondly, a massive thank you to @Cliosport-carl for sorting the voting thread for last month's contest - hugely appreciated.

So onto June's POTM. As previously discussed, we will alternate between a Free for All and Themed month - for the 6th month of 2018, we have a theme and that theme is: WATER

As always with the themes, there is huge scope for interpretation, so get your imaginations working and come up with the best shot that you can.

1. Only newly taken shots, taken by you this month and for this months comp alone please.
2. This is a Clio forum - and a [Preferably your] Clio needs to be somewhere in the shot.
3. You may enter more than one photo to show your skills ! However the first shown counts.

Closing date for entries will be 30th June 2018.
Voting will follow shortly after!

Best of luck to everyone and thank you once again for supporting POTM!

I think you should do away with the rules as nobody really seems to care for them anyway. Especially the first seems to get ignored in about 90% of the cases.

Photo taken on Sunday 3rd of June.
Lucky guess that WATER was the next topic:wink:

Nice try @Big Ben but at this time the contest wasn't even opened (see date of the OP from Jimmy).

What ever. I also posted a few shots that didn't met the criterias myself in before and as the people generally don't really follow the rules and because they aren't enforced anyway why still keep them in place?

Would be easier to just announce a topic and be done with it IMO.

I think the word contest is a bit strong. It’s a bit of fun on my behalf and I’m sure other people see it the same.
Not everyone is into photography or understands it like you do (?) but I think it adds an extra dimension to an already excellent forum so I’m always happy to take part.

If you don’t like my photo or anyone else’s don’t vote for it mate.

Don’t be too critical though please.

I look forward to your entry:grinning::chris2:

Pretty sure the wording is to suggest just for this month's competition and not another month...

I'll vote for you Ben :kissingheart:

The first time I took part I asked about the rules and was told that they don't really get enforced because it's a "fun event". Which is great. Doesn't changes the fact that the first rule says "only newly taken shots, taken by you this month and for this months comp". At least three shots in here don't comply with this rule as I know that I saw them in before or that they weren't taken for this competition only. Same goes for many, many shots in older comps (including some of my own).
I'm just wondering why still have the first rule in place if it's not getting enforced? I assume it's because the staff tries to have photos that aren't already posted all across the net but this seems to be the case anyway. So again, why uphold it?

I'm not a photographer myself but know a bit about photography as I had some lessons about it in one of my job educations (game artist). I'm also generally interested in this matter but I'm far, far away from being a pro myself.

Your photo is good and better than my entry in my opinion but that's not the point here.

Sorry, I don't mean to spam this thread. If any of the mods or admins think it's too much please just delete.

Thank you for the feedback and comments about POTM and the 'rules'. They are welcomed, and fine as they are to be in this thread - there is a separate feedback thread for POTM, however I'm not going to split hairs over it

Yes, the rules are there to try and avoid older shots being re-used. However as some have pointed out, this is meant to be fun and we all like looking at nice shots of even nicer cars. So while some shots do admittedly break the 'rules', we are not going to go overboard and start deleting them - that would take away the fun element and more than likely just get people's backs up....

I would hope that people will respect the 'rules' as much as they can and not take the mickey - a bit of good faith, if you like. So we will leave them in place to try and maintain a bit of structure to proceedings, and also rely on a bit of good faith from the participants

Cheers peeps!
