Anyone near London with Leather / Alcantara Recaros? + random pish thread

@Marsch

I never saw your ‘bigger is better’ post, and clearly have skim-read this thread somewhat. I wasn’t poking fun....

More rubber: as In width with the 18’s. Presumably less sidewall profile. And that’s ride comfort....

And no you’re right. I most definitely didn’t buy my R.S. for comfort. Knowing how ‘crashy’ these cars can be on pot-holed UK roads - I’m dead sure I wouldnt want worse though.

For me these would be a step backwards for my requirements on my car. If I did ever fit 18’s - they would need to be very special. And I fail to see on what front these are.

As ever: good we all don’t agree on all points...

The joys of someone reading text and taking it out of context....

Each to their own, I’ve seen FB posts with bagged clios trying to fit in with the dubs. Individuality is always going to occur whether it’s same car or ones a slightly different version. It’s bad enough with the black badge gang on here  but this thread is going way off topic....

Can we leave the bitching at home and get back on track!

1. I don't care what the text book defintion for posh is. It's the context that matters and this clearly wasn't ment as a compliment but keep pretending it was. Somebody may actually believe it but the one isn't going to be me. No matter what you say now. Besides that I never talked about the price of the respective car.

2. Then you don't. It's your decision finally.

3. The difference is marginal in the overall picture. Especially if we're talking about driving on the road with the attached limitations. The suspension mainly has to deal with the weight of the car and forces related to it. It's not there to deal with the weight of the unsprung mass in the first place but I'm not denying that there is a difference at all. I'm just saying it's negligible in the overall picture. What's next? Are you going to tell me that some tyres are lighter than others and will therefore give you any relevant gains in what ever?

4. Sure, Renault throws out a "hard-line" tracktool and then ruins everything with some crappy wheels just for the looks. Did it ever dawned on you that they did simply go for these rims because they came to the conclusion that the difference actually is marginal?

Nice to hear you're amused. That's at least something even if not the intention.

1. Awww petal, you are a delicate flower aren't you? Take it how you wish. I've explained myself clearly enough. Hope you can sleep tonight.

2. Correct. They'll be pretty good. I'll be happy.

3 & 4.       absolutely priceless. I bow to your obviously superior ride & handling knowledge. As I suggested earlier, of course, you're very clearly a suspension guru and know better than I ever will. Sorry to question you. Any other suspension set up wizardry you care to enlighten us on?

If ever you're in the UK can you come and set our car up for us please? Currently the suspension set up we have deals with the UK roads without any fuss what so ever. I just so wish I could have a ride that felt like it was knocking the fillings out of my teeth like yours! Show us the way oh wise one.

Most entertaining.

xxx

No cans of whoop ass needed mate. No arguments here, just TOP banter!

Please don't! Happy with the outcome of the request in the first post and thoroughly enjoying the derailment!!!

Hahahaha in fairness it was more the HUGE arch gap it had and 18’s still didn’t make it look any nicer! You made the comment regarding the “glorious” paint colour which trigger the events!

Silver tongued mate :thumb:

I actually don’t.... I think it’s a pointless edition.

Should’ve sacked off the 18” wheels and had the matte colours as option

Here's a curve ball... I actually really like the Interlagos wheels :tongueout:
I remember looking at a Raider when I was having my dephaser trouble, it seemed too much a 'cost to change' at the time at £3k from what I currently had. No idea what man math I used to justify a £10k cost to change with the Trophy instead!
I realised that the Raider was just a cosmetically enhanced Mk3 and I didn't fancy more of the same, as much as it IS a nice edition (sorry @Beany).
I must admit though, that I personally wouldn't have tolerated the wheels for very long in a practical sense, as much as I love the look.
I don't know what I've added to this thread, I think it's the sake of having a spare couple of minutes and a keyboard at my disposal!
Much love :poke:

You have contributed banter mate. Happy with that. In a friendly manner too!

Man maths. It's one of the best things ever. Can't stretch to £3k but can stretch to £10k. There's always a way to make it work. Plus, as far as badges go on a Clio, the ONLY one that actually means anything is "Trophy" the rest are just dressed up normal cars with a few extras. You made the right choice I think. Plus your Mk3 was so nice you wouldn't have been adding anything of any benefit by moving to a Raider.

And yep, I like the wheels too. They look great. Even more so on the Clio than on the Megane I think.

They're just really really heavy...

I like raiders in red:grinning:

I think they look great. Saw one in the flesh last year. Bang tidy

Just saying:wink:
Yeah the red is nice... bitch to clean!

Still should’ve been an options colour... £2/3k extra? LY was most expensive £1.5k ??

I think it was a nice 'last hurrah' for the Mk3, matte paint, nice wheels, leather Recaro's, white dials (albeit standard on late models), monitor and knob. Granted you could make your own, but it was something a little different.
What I don't like about them is the current inflated price, ridonculous if you ask me. Certainly not in the Trophy league of collectible, and when I say Trophy, I mean the Mk3 Megane. Mine, certainly not, just a name for a high spec Clio, but the Megane, that's a lovely car to be in, and used prices are fully justified in my opinion.
