197 rb progress thread

So I’ve had the Clio for around 4 weeks now.
Had the manifold issue when purchased but whilst it was still under warranty I got it replaced free of charge. The first two manifolds sourced both had poor flexi repairs so I came to an agreement with the garage that a toyosport manifold would be supplied and fitted. This took two weeks to get this stage so I was just happy to get the repair started. Another week went past and the car still hadn’t been fixed due to reasons I’m not exactly sure of, however this gave me a chance to start doing some research into the mods I wanted and the direction I will be going. It didn’t take long for me to purchase a scorpion cat back system. Had a scorpion on my 106 rallye a few years ago and I loved it. It turned up on time and got fitted whilst the car was in for manifold. This was Thursday past and as it turned out there was a Tail pipe and a exhaust clamp missing from the box! so I’ll have to phone scorpion after the Easter break and get them sent up the road.
At some point in the future I’ll be looking at
Coilovers
Spacers or wider alloys
Remap
Full detail
Some bits and bobs Here and there.
Reduce rattles (there’s a few!)
Oh and maybe a bloody rear wiper!

Good to hear you got the manifold issue sorted, have you upgraded your engine mounts to Powerflex? If not, the Toyo manifold is prone to knock the subframe! Unless it’s been notched of course?

Thank you. It has power flex mounts already fitted. And I did ask the machanic to double check the lower one is still there. However I wasn’t aware the car had being started and got a call out of the blue to say it was ready for collection. Ive ordered a new lower insert anyway and it will get fitted when it’s back in for exhaust completion. I have to say though no obvious knocking so far. Do you know if the knocking people speak about is very obvious? Or slight. I wonder if the new exhaust system masks it?

Glad to hear you got the manifold issue sorted. The knocking is easily noticed, usually when lifting off the accelerator.

Hi Sean thanks for the reply. I’m fairly confident there is no knocking then. Certainly haven’t noticed it yet. As said I will get the lower mount insert fitted. Regardless if it’s there or not. Bought it now anyway. I do have a very bad rattle from the rear I’m going to look into today. Possibly due to the exhaust not finished! There’s always something! Love it though
