My new race car.

Would it not be beneficial to set the car up on the Pirelli's from the start ?

Possibly yes but I want a tyre I know and like , I hate the Pirelli and want to enjoy my seat time in the car. They may be better on the Clio as I know a lot of people like them but on the Astra they were horrid. I will be using the car in other series where tyres are open.

Must admit we struggled with the Trofeos, we had previously used nankang.

They seem very soft side walls compared to the nankang,we ended up running around 38psi hot at the front. At the 30-32psi max recommended by pirelli they were almost coming off the rims.

Yes the side wall is very very soft meaning the tyre moves around a lot and causes a horrible grease feeling meaning getting on the power earlier is a big no no , but a lot of the guys love them I want to know what there secret is.

What other series are you racing in ?

New pads on route as i am not happy with the breaking power. Complete fluid flush has been done with rbf660 so will see if this helps or weatheri need to start looking at upgrading the brakes.

mintex f2r for the fronts , i used just about every pad you can name in the astra as only got 25 mins out of a set and the last set i tried were the f4r and they were epic but did have a little too much initial bite , they were fine on slicks but on cut tires they did cause lock ups so gone for the f2r which should have similar power but a little less initial grab.

yeah no problems i am at lydden hill this sat but will be using the old tyres and pads untill the last session as i will scrub pads in ready for brands the week after.

We've been using Pagid RS29's and now trying DS1.11's

Looks like the DS's have lasted one track day at Donington !! But they performed well.

If we hadn't got rid of the MK3 we were going to try the PBS race pads in the brembo

So yesterday we went to Lydden hill now being a rally cross track the surface is extremely abrasive so we opted to just leave the rubbish tyres on and wooden brake pads to see how the geo changes and diff had changed things.

Now there was certainly an improvement but the tyres were just stopping play by still a good day , we are at brands hatch next week with new tyres and pads so we can start playing with set up to make a quick car at least I hope.

You can see in the pic we did manage to get a good amount of camber in the car 3.8 to be exact.

Has anyone done anything rarb wise for the 200 as I am thinking of making one.
