Clay and Speed Glaze??

Bought this the other day to do some work on the light swirls i've got: Meguiar's #80 Speed Glaze (Light Abrasive Cut)

Just wondering if i need to clay first or will this get rid of any contaminates that they clay would?
Thanks for the help

save yourself time and effort and dont wash after claying. Just dry and the paint cleaner will remove any streaks that are left from the clay!

Almeek ure right but sometimes the lube messes up the cleaner. I think I'd have to say snow foam, rinse (jet wash), bilberry the wheels, have a brew, jetwash wheels, clay, quick jetwash, dry, Victoria cleanse all paintwork, fast glass the windows, dependent on swirl marks deep I'd use g3 purple pad and for the rest CG scratch n swirl with a yellow pad then once I've been over it with a uv light I'll finish it off with g10 or CG AIO, have another brew, lime prime, best of show for my car supernatural for every1 else unless it's a really special car 1 coat an then another coat after 24 hours ure car will be shiny as a mirror. If u wana get rid of orange peeling it's a wet sand but this takes days.

Clay bars are a lot better at removing stuff of the paintwork than polish

polish is to mask fill or eliminate swirles and imperfections, clay will remove over spray tar and any thing that normal washing wont. most clays will cause marring wich can only be removed by polishing

hope this helps m8

Have you completed your clay treatment yet Such? Good results? I am in the market for a detail/clay and want to know results before I commit to a brand/cut/abrasive level. Any advice welcome!!

Yes the results speak for them self, recently did mine.

Should have taken a few pictures to show the state of the clay, but when doing one half of the bonnet the clay bar had turned dark brown.

I Clayed my car this weekend with Meguiars clay bar detailing kit.
Having never done it before i was not sure how it would turn out but WOW.
Don't know how i did not know about this before its brilliant.
I washed, then used bug and tar remover, then wheel cleaner, washed again, then clay bar'd before polishing twice. (Mines ultra red by the way).
I got no streaks and am very happy with the results; the paint is so smooth.
Did notice an alarming amount of stone chips tho...
Now I just need to get hold of some Dodo wax now to finish the job!

Cool - I use some Meguiars kit at the mo - gold class wax and applicator pads, hot rims wheel cleaner and microfibre towels. I assume the clay bar detailing kit has all the necessary sundries to get going. I'll have a look into it.

Yes mate, its £24.00 from (cough) Halfords.
Comes with two clays in a nice little dish, a detailing spry to lubricate, a microfibre cloth to remove moisture from the detailing spray, a sample of their car was and a small bottle of polish (i think).

This video will show you what the kit comes with and 'how to' do it, though its not rocket science! Also what's the Gold Class Wax like?

P.S: a quick google search shows this product is available for £12+ but i wanted it NOW!

Lol yeah meguires mild clay is good for heavy contaminents but sonus do a very fine clay for light soiling and it leaves less marring as some ppl like to call it

ahh, see i use bilt-hamber (think thats how to spell it) clay coz u only need water as lube. dont see the point in spending extra money on lube with other kits. think it's a money making scam tbh.

should also add that i'm relatively new in the detailiing scene and know f%&$ all really lol!

You can make up your own 'clay lube' with a little shampoo + water mixture, it's nothing special. If you want to use QD then it's cheap enough if you buy it and dilute 1:1 with filtered water. Either way you're right ; 'clay lube' is a money making practice.
