Personal views on the Renault range

So I'm currently sat at my local dealership having the MOT done (fingers crossed!) and can't help but be impressed at the current range. There's a gorgeous pearl white 220 Trophy with all the options (Akra etc) but we know all about these.
What I'm really impressed at are the next two.
Megane GT - the build quality looks excellent and the interior is very modern. It actually reminds me of when I was selling Mercedes. Even closing the doors is done so with a sturdy reassurance.
@nutnutwelshman must be SO excited for his!
Twingo GT - bigger than I was expecting and I'm really impressed. Colours make it retro and some lovely RenaultSport touches. Exhaust looks mega!
All in all, I feel that Renault have really upped their game to bring something interesting to the market amongst the usual competition of Fiesta's, Foci, Kia's etc.
Tres bien Renault, tres bien!

The interior of the 220 looks way beyond the quality of my 197 @Micah.

I see the GT being branded across the range. Is that the new sports version?

Or a warm version of the Renaultsport range.

Good luck with MOT

I drove the 220 GT in Belgium and the top spec 1.6dci Megane with self parking they have really up the game. The quality has improved so much my Kajar is fantastic my 220 is so much better than the previous clios.

There are very few non-sport versions of marques which I'm a fan of, with the exception of the new Focus and the vw/audi range, but I must admit I would have a 220 Trophy in a heartbeat. That one with the black wheels looks amazing.

I don't know much about the full Renault range, however what I've noticed among friends and colleagues is that if they've had a Renault they've loved it to bits and have either kept it a very long time, or remained loyal to the brand.

I was also very impressed with the interior of @Chris 's 200T - such a big step up in appearance and quality from the mk3. I like the interior of my Clio, don't get me wrong, but I think the mk4 is a big improvement and does well to stay in line with the rivals.

I've never really liked the look of the Twingo, but I too was at a dealership today for a bulb replacement and I like the look of the Twingo GT, looks similar in shape to that of the Vauxhall Adam, but I love the exhaust out the back!

Don't like the twingo shape at all now...

The megane however looks a nice car - seats look really nice.

Yes the interior is a step up for sure - nice cockpit to be in on a daily basis

The Renault range at the minute is probably (IMO) the strongest it has ever been. Unfortunately here in Northern Ireland there is a certain stigma still associated with Renault vehicles but I honestly think they are now amongst the most reliable out there. I must say I love the new Megane, it doesn't even need to be the RS version. I drove a diesel home the other night and it has all sorts of bells and whistles, some step up from my own Megane (which is only 2014).

@Siliconsteve we aren't all idiots

I'm sure you're not and I wasn't implying you we're.
However I have two Renault dealers where I can get mine serviced. one is close but is as much use as a Fanny made from custard. the other is excellent but I have to take a day off at least to get my vehicles there.
My point is it shouldn't matter where I get it serviced or a warranty issue it should be the same.
Case in point, local dealer had my new shape trafic in for three weeks with a intermittent loss of pas. after that they said they been over it with a toothcomb and even the master tech said no fault with it. I foned the other dealer and explained and he said oddly we've had one in this morning and we've found water in the pump connector. so what had the first dealer done with it for three weeks.

The service side things is my biggest gripe with Renault that's why I used to change my cars every two years to stop Renault servicing them

But on the flip side @Siliconsteve I've only had two problems my 197 and 200 both times Renault went beyond the warranty parameters for Me
Most things are six of one and half dozen of another but it's annoying when I have to empty my van contents into a hire van then get told I'm making things up only to then put everything back into my van only to ring days later to say it's done it again.

Not bad. Prefer our R27. It seems crazy to me to sell a drivers car on the strength of how many creature comforts it has.

Wouldn't mind a Trophy though. But anything else, no thanks.

Flame red is a stunning colour however and I'd love a 197 in that colour.

Best thing about this thread for me is my realisation that they've gone back to the old style Renault Sport badges.

Think all cars made these days are going to have more creature comforts than ever before.

Hah just noticed that about the badges. Bloody insult putting it on a GT twingo though.

Agree mate. It's mostly just gimmickery to help flog cars to people who don't really care about how the car handles. There shouldn't be fluff like that in a sports version. It's all extra unwanted weight for the people who buy the car to drive it as intended.

But it's just how things are these days.

And FULLY agree about the GT Twingo!!!

The new Twingo's look hideous. Add to the fact that underneath they're basically a smart car forfour. Bleurgh.

Agree with the leap though that the Clio has gone from the mk3 to 4 interior. But still retains that wide arch stance that began with the Williams Clios.
