I love my 200 to bits but also am a very die-hard Porsche fanatic. I spent some time with a very respected Porsche specialist yesterday to look at a couple of 944 S2s he had. I'm a 911 die-hard but have started to appreciate the looks of the 944. I'm developing the itch......
It is hard to find a good one nowadays but OMG, did I see one yesterday! It was a 1991 Red 944 S2 with only 52k miles. It's interior was as fresh as a daisy (cream) but hardly a mark on it. Tonnes of service history.
I didn't drive this one but another. I really didn't know what to expect of it, being used to a 911 and the Clio but I was shocked how good it was. The engine is a Porsche built 4cyl 3.0 pushing 211 BHP. The torque was amazing and I was generally taken aback by how fast it felt. This was a 1991 car that felt new. It also seemed to get quite alot of attention, something I wasn't expecting. It's got such retro appeal.
The car even had full electric seats and all the other luxuries and what's more, everything worked.
Now - I'm really struggling deciding what I do. The red one is 10k and will be a sound investment going forward but I love the 200 equally but I can't have both Clio and 944.....
It's funny that I never would have given this a second look years ago but the design in my opinion seems to be getting more striking.
Anyway, if anyone here ever fancies going down the 944 route, find a good one and they'll blow you away how well they drive.
Cheers
