Cold air feed

Just planning on adding a cold air feed to the second intake after removing the acoustic valve.

Not intending on attaching directly to the intake. Just to supply cold air. To whoever has done this already what size pipe and length did you use to get it down to the lower grill?

Thanks!

Quick and easy way is to disconnect the vacuum pipe going into the solenoid at the back of the valve ( this stops it opening ) keep the valve in place and run a cold air feed down behind the light and curl to wards the bottom grill. I brought VC001R ( think R means red ends ) viper pipercross 65mm cold air feed pipe, its about a meter long, i painted the end on mine matt black with the intention of drilling a hole in the black plastic panel to the side of the radiator, buy managed to wedge it between the plastic panel and the grill just incase i had any adverse effects. Ive had none. Ive also got pipercross panel filter, silicon hoses, tape the holes up on the pipe to the front grill, and cut off the plastic box the is around the grill inlet behind the front grill. Even thou ive a after market exhaust, low revs i can hear the induction noise. It will be a bumper off job thou.

No problem! Thanks for all that. Fits what I planned from searching through old threads

And when disconnecting the vacuum pipe of the solenoid, make sure you block off the pipe using a bolt or something

i think i used a M6 roofing bolt, like this

with a small cable tie around it, and leave it hanging in the battery box.

Thanks again! Does the resonator need cutting or just pulling off? If so any idea what size the hole was after for plugging? I can get all this stuff for free from work so I can do it all at once then!

aim for something like this mate, works well in my opinion especially at speed, mine feeds an ITG maxogen but it will be a very similar sort of position the neoprene pipe needs to be in,hope this helps...

Cheers mate looks exactly what I'm after! Mine will feed standard itb filter intake though. Would like a cone to hear some more induction but don't want to lose power. Did you remove your resonator box as well?

not sure you'll loose power mate with an open cone, not if its mapped right anyway,i tried the following at RS Tuning and it made slightly more peak power than the itg maxogen but lost a little mid range torque so i decide to stick with the maxogen as these cars suffer mid range, dyno runs are also done with the bonnet open so tbf i'm not sure how accurate figures are as it could be getting more air than in normal driving conditions, anyway the open cone i tried and might go back to for the noise alone, what a roar!!!

It is, it's a redtop 15 too, no doubt he'll be on here to tell us owners of the fatter 25's how it's lighter

ha ha! yeah its a very light varley redtop 15,its wasn't really the weight of it that made me go for it though it was the size, its been on well over a year now and never missed a beat
