Why Did the Rev Counter Change Colour in 2012?

Looking at RS200s (2010-2013), I noticed that the pre-2012 cars had a distinctive yellow Rev Counter and yellow centre stitching on the steering wheel rim - but the final year cars seem to have a white Rev Counter and red stitching.

Any obvious reason for this and any other differences on 2012/13 RSs?

thanks

Just to add some confusion for you - mine has the yellow rev counter but red band on the steering wheel. Mines a 2011 car.

My June 2012 car has white rev counter with yellow stitching! I may be wrong but I think yellow stitching on wheel is cup chassis & red non cup. As for tacho colour I have no idea but do like my white one. My mate's car is 6 months older than mine and he has yellow tacho.

I wondered if they were using surplus white rev counter stock from limited edition Clios during the final production runs. Didn't the Gordinis get white tacho faces?

The proper cups have a "lighter" (not as nice quality - not that the standard wheel is up too much) steering wheel..

My anal side can't understand why you'd even have an yellow RED-line area on the rev-counter anyway ? Most cars having them in Red.....as a signal of "Danger" of possible engine damage at those RPM's.

Its not a big enough part to make a colour statement on its own and doesn't fit in or match with anything else interior wise.....

I'm not bothered enough to buy Gordini clocks or swap anything over.....just think it would have better in traditional red, or colour matched to each car or just matched to the interior somewhat.

They have the change gear beep noise? I don't think you can over rev the f4r, it loves a thrashing right?

Virtually anything i've ever driven has an actual 'physical' cut-out at the top end to stop going past the point of no return so to speak.

So like you say: On these engines the Yellow or White portion is really doing nothing anyway.

Gear-beep i guess just warns you its coming up and rather than sputtering away when the limiter cuts-in - its teling you to hook another cog and save a few milliseconds....... Which reminds me. Havn't heard that lately. Better check its working today.
