Mine don't have anything on them other than the orange stickers, can't say wether the originals had paint on them as I never took notice. 
Also... One of mine has the part number and orange sticker facing backwards and the other one is facing forwards. You could argue that one of my Dampers is on back to front!!! As long as everything matches up with regards to part numbers and all the rest of it then it should be fine really. The only thing I find strange is that they only changed one Damper as I've always been told that they should be changed in axle pairs.
