Whining/whistling noise

Right chaps - really need some help with this... it's definitely the PCV valve or pipe making a noise.

The new one that I fitted came from RPD, is brand new, but still making the noise.

I noticed reading another thread on here (http://www.clio197.net/threads/yiannis-albi-blue-r27.23785/page-17) that I don't have the black bit of plastic on the end of the valve, mine just connects straight to the pipe.

So I decided to use a cable tie to increase the seal between the pipe and the valve. Now its making the noise even more!

So, I'm wondering whether it's the o-rings on the valve end, but it is a new valve, so not quite sure what is going on.

Where can I buy slightly bigger o-rings like the ones in the other thread? Do you think that would help?

If it’s me your asking the question to then I had the alternator rebuilt which cured it
Sorry to resurrect the thread but did the noise sound like it coming from the top of the engine? I was convinced it was behind the timing cover until I read this thread. Alternator bearing would be much easier to deal with... Will look/listen closer next cold start, sounds can travel around a lot in such a cramped engine bay.

From what I can remember yes it was

Cheers Ben. It's tricky to diag as has to be cold, needs someone to hold the revs a bit and disappears after 10 minutes.
