Where's My iTunes

...strangely, I went to download a new CD for the iPod and my iTunes has completely gone...MP3's seem to be there but some are showing files empty....anyone experienced this?
 
...in the end I down loaded a new copy....all my tunes were still on the Hd so they just re-appeared in iTunes....seems to be sorted now but I reckon the program goes into self distruct if it recognises any directly competing programs....I installed the Samsung equivalent and an iTunes emmulator onto my Samsung SII and this probably caused it!!
