Tyre sizes

I'm having trouble getting 215/45/R17. Even on K-tec racing I can only see 215/45/R17 in R888. Can anyone recommend anything? what is 215/40/R17 like on the R27 F1? p.s the cheaper the better i'm getting reamed on my house currently and have little free funds :worried:

Nah woody only R888 sizes on k-tec website.. cheers Breeny boy what kinda grip levels do they have compared to the conti sport 3s? currently I have 195 on it(some reason previous owner had them on it).. I see the r27 website saying 215.. should I be going for 215 or 225?

contis are good very good but ive heard that the toyos are much much better and on that site they are a wee bit cheaper than conti contac3. from what i have read they have superb grip im getting a set of 4 at the end of the month hopefully

Stick with the 215/45 R17

225 of u want more surface area n grip

This is a common misconception, the only thing that will happen going from 215... to 225... is the contact patch will change shape, not size. Theres no more grip available by changing tyre size alone.

Good bit of info there, was thinking of going for 225's myself. Would have thought there would be more surface area available aswell.

U get a longer rolling surface thgh

has anyone a picture of 234/40R17 on a 197? does it affect the handling much ?

I would stick to standard, the 235 and 245 are better suited to a wider wheel.

heres a poor picture, these are 235/40 17 on a 17x8" wheel (excuse the fisheye lens, i have no idea why it was on as these pics are from March 09 )

I've got 225/45/17 all round, as they were cheaper at the time. I can honestly say I've not noticed and difference in handling or grip, but when i'm doing 60mph (my speedo 60mph) i'm going 1mph quicker.

The other advantage is that the sidewall protects the alloy by protruding further out, so I can't actually kerb the alloy anymore!
