Trade in

Just got back from Renault after getting a trade in price for my 07 ff 197 with all the extra bits on it , the offer was £7750 full dealer service , 12 months MOT ,4months TAX treated like a brother that car is polished and waxed no kids or eating allowed in it 25000 miles on the clock the up side is at least i have a f**king nice car still

they know that they can still charge a premium for the 250 so wont offer you as much for yours as if you went for say an R26.

yes its a bit depressing when you spend most of the morning with some div who probably couldnt afford the petrol to put in it then tell you "its in reasonable condition " , with that statement it felt like he had violated my gran

sounds like an incompetant pencil pusher to me. Hes only worried about margin and unfortunately you were on the receiving end of it.

F***ing jobs-worth.

I was told 7500 as it is or 8000 if I put it back to standard.
Because they can't do warrenty on none standard parts even though they would be able to sell it easier as it is.

I'm no car dealer but that sounds like a paltry offer to me. Bearing in mind 07 plates with 20k on the clock are on the forecourt at main dealers between £10,000 and £11,000.

We have a trader who we deal with at work who bought an '06 plate with 20k on it from an independant Volvo specialist (they took it in px) - he paid £8,500 for it. He picked it up, took it for a blast, then sold it on to a well known used car supermarket the same day for £9,000. They then had it up for £9,995 and it sold sharpish.

I agree with Jase - sell private

i got offered 10.5k for my 08 cup on 22k miles by my local dealer just the other week, that was against a new 200.
was suprised at the offer but he wouldnt budge much on the price of the 200

i was offered 8 for mine against a AG 200 he said it's not wort much more because it's yellow and not many people like it when isaid there's another 57 plate but in silver over there for 11.5k he said it was the high milage of 31k on mine that made the difference, i replied knob ed and walked out the stupid fat idiot.

i'd say you could add at least 1k onto that for a p/x and maybe 1200-1500 on a good day private. I'd persist with the private sale if i were you. The dealer would 9995 any day of the week

best thing to do. don't tell them wheat car u want to trade for. value ures first then tell them cus its an unfair system that they base on the car ure gunna buy. all in all i would sell private. mines never getting sold just guna be a stripped time attack car after 3 years

To be fair it depends on more than the condition of the car. Dealers consider previous experience with the style of car, not gonna want a car they no they wont sell, and if they are gonna take it in, they'll want it cheap. The area, some cars sell well others sit and become over ages and cost a tonne in depreciation. Like someone mentioned, depends on what someone is buying, some cars have more flexability in the price than others.

Anyone that brings a what car or parkers guide into a dealer deserves to be shot on the spot.

If they weren't gonna budge on the price of the 250 i'd really want as close to £8750 as possible. They will make a weld in this car. Asking for just under CAP clean against full retails isnt taking the piss.

the sales guy rang me back on Sat told him i couldn,t talk now as i was at the Vauxhall garage about to test drive a VXR Astra ( i was at home ) , asked him to ring me back tues as i am working Sunday and Monday he sounded as pissed off as i did when he offered me that poor trade in price

You'll never get a good price at a dealers tbh! They are there to earn money, always better to sell private.
