Trackers...

Just wondering if anybody on here has had a Tracker or similar fitted?

Is it a worthwhile investment, in regards to how much in knocks off your insurance?

The only downside I can see with them though is some insurance companies INSIST on you having your car back if/when they find it, regardless of how much abuse it's had. I'm not sure if I'd want mine back if some scrote had been riding around in it for a few weeks but if it takes £000s of my insurance then I might look into it...

Cheers,

Will

tbh, how much is it going to take off your insurance? and how much is it gonna cost to buy AND fit a good recognised tracker system. Dont think its gonna be worth doing, but i dont work for an insurance company.

It's the best part of £500 for a top rated one, plus ~£35 per year for the subscription. My insurance is just about £1500, with points coming off this year and *touch wood* another years No-Claims by the time of my renewal in December. I can't see it taking £500+ off my insurance though I don't think?

I think they charge you yearly too. plus if someone breaks in to it the traker won't help. It's unlikely someone will steal your car unless you leave the card lying around.

^^^ I was thinking this myself. I think it's a decent security set up on them as standard and I think you'd struggle to take one without the keys, unless you winched it onto a truck... And I'd notice somebody doing that outside the house hahaha!!! It's a decent enough area round here to be honest, me and my dad were talking about Trackers at work today and it just got me thinking.

Luke, how random!?!

I'll have a look at that on one of the comparrison sites. I know a lot of companies DON'T like them, my dads insurers wouldn't cover him if he FITTED a Tracker.

Yes, they are probably thinking, 'if he is so worried about loosing his car, maybe we should be too!' Lol!

I'm the same Liam, not sure I'd actually want it back if it'd been ragged about for a few week.

Those stickers are ace, might have to get me a silver one.

If they park it in an underground car park the tracker becomes useless anyway...

Thats where they hide whilst stripping it for parts.

I think the sticker is a better investment TBH. There isn't a whole lot that will stop it being stolen/broken into if someone wants it, other than a rotweiler on the back seat...

I wouldnt want the car back if it had been nicked either!
