The, “what is this?” thread

Hey everyone,

I had a similar thread I made several weeks ago so I thought I’d create a thread with some continuity that other newbie Clio owners can unabashingly come to if need be. Naturally, I’ll go ahead and start.

I took some things off, including the airbox as I was cleaning some stuff up with engine cleaner until I came across this:

As I put my hand underneath it, I could slightly lift it up- is this normal?

Lastly, I see these zip ties all over the engine bay- did Renault put this stuff in or was this the previous owners doing?

Thanks again fellas!

The gear selector cable plastic housing clips into this metal casting on the gearbox. If you ever have trouble getting into some gears or you lose a couple of gears this is often the culprit as it can pop outIMG_5027.jpeg

How interesting! Good to know- tips like this are great for us new owners. Thank you.

Apparently the top ties are not OEM. Next time I’m wrangling around the engine bay I’ll send more screenshots. I feel like they’re everywhere lol

What’s up with my airbox?

Was it glued together or something? Lol

I ordered a replacement but apparently it’s for another RS Clio as it didn’t match in size.

I’ll post another picture in a second of the wrong one.
