Superchips Blue Fin ECU Remap ???

I had one on my S3. A brilliant bit of kit, and ideal for putting back to standard at service time, just to keep the warranty. It also has an immobiliser feature, where you can effectively remove all the mapping from the ECU, so even if someone manages to get past the factory immobiliser, they can't get any further.

It's simple to use, and takes about 15-20 mins to swap maps either way.

Obviously it's only a generic map, unless you get Superchips to do it themselves at their HQ, so I did swap to another map later after I'd added other stuff, but if you're only wanting a remap, and don't plan to do many other mods, it's great.

Think it would be better waiting for ktecs version imo. Least if you add more mods they can send another map to accomidate it, think its out very soon too

Thanks Mitch! Ohh yeah i forgot i heard about Ktecs version, will keep my eye out for that! See what they have to offer!

Seems too easy for 12hp and 16nm torque...

But I've always heard good things about them, a mate of mine used them on his Focus ST and thought it was brilliant.

Most of the performance you get is from this product is from them locking down the octane rating, so instead of having a slack manufacturer tune that a has to accommodate poor octane fuel possibly being used they set everything for say super 97+ that makes biggest difference.

Have used this type of product in the past, US one called Diablosport predator although it allowed you to custom tune and so was able to play with setting different octane ratings and that alone you could physical see/feel the differences

Interesting. I asked my dad because he had a Superchips DIY remap thing for his Dodge Ram when he had it. He said it did change it for the better and you could instantly see/feel the difference. Maybe ill wait to see what Ktec have to offer before speculating £250! Does sound promising though . . .

I would wait, as the bluefin isn't customisable and is a lot of money for just a canned tune, With my predator that worked out £194 and once I went passed CAI and exhaust that it had maps for I contacted a US tuner gave him copy of base map then told him what i had and he would email the tunes to me then I'd try it out, if I got any flat spots or rough running, give him the info and he would send me an amended map.

My Scooby I just went straight to a scooby specialist tuner and got him to do live mapping and that didn't work out much more money than the bluefin either

All I've heard / read is that there is a similar plug and play device like the BlueFin coming out or something like that. Not really sure on any details tbh. Anyone else have any more insight?

i'm getting a response from ktec on monday for there ren-flash they call it,i'm buying cams off them but having them fitted at a place more local to me,my mapper has said he can create a map for me no probs but if the ren flash is a reasonable price it may be worth buying as it will save him alot of time

Decided to order one on Monday, came on Tuesday, I had a couple of hours last night trying to get it to work, ended up phoning super chips today, the download last night was interrupted but my pc said it was all downloaded Ok, anyway super chips resent it today, and it took about 30seconds to install in the clio, only drove on motorway comming home from work, so can't really say if there was much difference.
I'm planning to set off for work early in morning and go cross country to test it properly, will let you know tommorrow.

Very tempted after seeing there site, 12hp from it sounds good, its good because I have an exhaust and filter, you can send them your current map and map it to suit

no chance of gaining 12hp.

Thats kind of what I thought! Sounds too good to be true, and you could never prove it unless you paid to go on a Dyno, and if your gonna do that you might as well have it mapped while your there?

On another note . . . Can you just roll up to somewhere that has a Dyno and pay to have a go? to see what you have as standard, cos im dying to know! lol
