Strange towing eye location issue

I removed the towing eye cover yesterday expecting to find a threaded hole, but was presented with a solid piece of ali in the way! I compared it with another nearby 200 which was normal. So what is going on here? I had a new bumper fitted and painted recently but that wouldn’t have touched the mounting point, and nothing amiss was mentioned. It has not been involved in a crash. Has it been fitted incorrectly at the factory I wonder?

Slightly annoyingly the new bumper will obviously have to come off to investigate and rectify it, but I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced the same?

The crash bar has been put back on upside down so the mounting point is now on the right. It’s a bumper off job

Just to confirm yeah that seems to be the case … it’s a simple enough job to do
