That famous right foot of yours takes no prisonersWhy is that bud
It's an impressive example and would definitely be a good financial investment.....
Do you not think the current 40-somethings who couldn't afford these back in the day in their late teens - but now can: are effectively holding the prices of such cars artificially high though Jimmy ?
When "we" (Im of that era; but not current financial status i might add !) lose interest in this type / age of car, i get the feeling prices will decline. Because the next generation will have little interest as they never grew up with them....
The Clio also has no real Motorsport credence; unlike an RS500 Cosworth, M3 etc. So it wont be remembered for that either.
I'm betting these have a limited shelf-life..........
Think I'd rather be pottering around in a nice 997 turbo
Usually I'd agree with you here mate but I think this is a special case. EVERYONE knows this was a mad car. They're not even that great to drive but we'd all have one money no object. Plus kids these days are still driving Clios, look at the youngsters on here. Christ I sound old. Feel it too...
I think they'll hold. They're just a really really cool car. Plus, it does have some pretty good motorsport cool points. Admittedly not as much as the other two you mentioned but how much would either of those be with less than 1k miles?
I not entirely sure a one-make series; filling in time before an F1 race qualifies as Motorsport Heritage, but i admire and thankyou for taking time to dig out a clip of the beasts in action !!!!
Each to their own ideas though Mes. And they were mine. And seeing as you havn't convinced me yet - i'm sticking with them
Who's paying for the fuel?Maybe we should all club in, buy it, and spank it to death on tracks up and down the country as a 197.net group car?
Who's paying for the fuel?
Exige V6 Cup at that price for me, all day long.
Oh and if you're pottering, you've bought the wrong car!
TBH mate, I've drove both and just found the 997 a better all rounder, blisteringly fast and you could sit in it all day, the v6 exige, very fast but not a place I'd want to be for more than a couple of hours, was also put off by how up close and personal you are with any passenger.
The other thing that appeals to me is getting a car that cost 130k for 60 rather than paying more than double the price for a car than it was new.
Agree with all that mate. The 997 shits all over it as a car car. But the driving experience in the Exige... Number one thing for me in a car. I'd forgo all creature comforts and NVH packs and nice infotainment and all the rest for thrills behind the wheel. But 90% of my driving is for fun and it's pretty much only ever my other half who is with me so that's not much of a consideration either.
Plus the running costs are pretty mental on a 997 T. Good thing about the Lotus is it's pretty cheap to run. And if I'm being honest, I wouldn't want another turbo and they're not the best looking car to me. I think the Cayman looks so much better. Plus it's mid engined. I'd certainly have a GT4. If I could have got one at list price I'd have had one.
Anyway, other than a proper track car, the Exige is the best thing I've driven by a long distance. Deserved the EVO COTY it got.
Can fully see why you'd go with the porker though mate... just hoping you'd give it a bit more than some pootling
Well put, i do prefer the 997tt to the Cayman truth be told but have to say the gt4 is a beauty! Oh and don't start me about that ****ing list! Bar stewards!
Think I'd rather be pottering around in a nice 997 turbo
