its hard to get much more weight lost unless you start going mental. Polycarbonate windows.
Fibreglass doors, boot and bonnet.

I had all the brackets And sound deadening cut out, whilst you have a bolt in cage you could easily enough turn it back to standard.

Oh yeah, I've seen lots of people going mad with ways to lose weight from them but I don't want to take it too far away form being a usable road car. Poly windows get tempting but it lives outside so I would worry about uv damage,vandalism etc.

It's certainly not the first thing on my agenda with it. Just enjoying having it finally sorted and feeling great to drive again.

I'm really interested for towing weight primarily, so comparing with yours and Beanys, I think mine (stripped with basic 'oulton' rear cage) would be about 1125-1150kgs. This is ok for the limit of my current tow car (trailer is 550kg or thereabouts) at 1800kg limit, although it does tow really badly unless I get the postitioning just right. It does rule out a few of the options I had been considering for my next car and I need to think carefully about what cage I get as I would like to get a better one.

The best thing to do would be try and get yours on some scales or a weighbridge. When I started getting more serious with this car I was looking at towing it with the daily car I bought to replace it. That had an 1800kg towing capacity which I always thought would be right on the limit. Now I know it would have been possible with the right spec trailer although it would be at the very top of the cars towing limit. It might well be something I think about again in the future though.

My existing (company) car is a Toyota Avensis, limit is 1800kg and whilst car only is alright-ish once you have tools and wheels etc in the boot it's not a pleasant experience at all. New option is a 320d for which the latest model is only 1600kg so going to be a non starter with the 525/530kg trailer I can borrow (even with a dramatic car weight loss diet). Anyway enough towing chat on your car thread

I thought this thread was overdue an update.

Things didn't quite go to plan this summer. My first track time of the year was cancelled as Evo decided not to run their evenings this year.

Having had the money back on that I thought I would book a full day at Bedford to get me used to the new suspension and have a play with the damping. A few days before I gave the car an oil change and decided I should change the brake fluid. Then disaster, both outer bleed nipples decided to snap clean in half. Stud extractors dint touch them so it was calipers off. This then led to me cancelling my trackday as it was never going to be done in time. But I had a new target.

I had booked onto an evening at Snetterton for the end of August and I was determined to make it! After my brother in law being away with work he came back and cracked on with drilling out the old bleed nipples. A few days later and they were done. One side has had an insert fitted as the threads pulled when trying to do the bleed nipple up. It takes quite some pressure to get them to seal but they do work again!

The car was now ready to hit Snetterton. Two hours drive was quite uncomfortable as the seats are set quite close to the pedals. But I had a great evening. Car was faultless and it felt very different on the coilovers. I didn't have a chance to play with the damping but that can come later. It was just nice to be out using it properly again.

So a sad day today as I watched the cars new owner drive off in it. It's been an amazing journey with it over the last 6 and a half years. Learnt a lot and spent even more! Truly has been fun and I will probably find myself in another Renaultsport product in the future. The new owner seems keen to give the car the life I wanted it to have so I think it's gone to the right person.
