Thanks for the comments guys. I like the fact you rarely see a red 200 out and about so makes it nice to own one. The white wheels are a pain yes. But as they're track only it's not too bad. It's only pick up on the tyres, i've managed to clean the rear ones up a bit but am going to run the others on the back for a few days to try and get it cleared off.
I take on your comments Yiannis, I'm fairly realistic about the planned mods on the car so am not expecting it to turn into something that will keep up with Radicals all day long! Also, it's 95% a road car as it's my daily that gets a few trackdays thrown at it. I just hate owning a standard car so am trying to keep it a bit more interesting! It's the kind of idea i've had for my last couple of cars but the idea works better with this one.
Today has been a good day though as it sailed through it's MOT
Nice pictures mate and totally understand your frustration. These cars are meant to be driven on a b Road, this is where they excel. However that's not the case on a power circuit, they just feel slow. On a small handful track though they are not bad at all.
Bit of advice. Don't go mental with the upgrades thinking that the car will be night and day different. If you want the car predominantly for track days and it has already put you off in OEM trim it will do so after the upgrades as well, you'll just end up selling and wasting money.

Is Rockingham a quick track, nothing like Cadwell for example (Which was always a favourite for slower / smaller engined or more nimble Motorbike owners when i did bike Trackdays). Certainly compared to Silverstone, or the old Snetterton for example.
Im guessing in the same way these cars are more suited to B-road blasting than Motorway mile-munching......theres more fun / more battles to be had on a more nimbleness orientated Track.

I didn't think Rockingham would be that quick but I was very wrong! It's a lot bigger than I thought when I booked it and means you have to carry a lot of speed everywhere. To put it in perspective I was backing off to 90mph for the 'first' banked corner as I didn't feel comfortable going any faster. Everything else was undertaking me round it!
Just been trying to measure up seat fittings as I really don't want to fight with the OMP frame anymore. It's just so awkward to get it to fit correctly and looks clumsy. Problem is the Sabelt has a very wide mounting on the current subframes and nothing else seems to be wide enough.

Quick update after Bedford, car performed brilliantly again. Only time it played up was after spinning for a second time and it didn't want to start.
187 miles on track so definitely got my money's worth out of the day.
That's it for this year trackday wise. Just got to try and not spend too much on the car over Christmas. I've still got the temptation to change it for something else but who knows what will happen.

I keep finding myself wanting something rwd. The main contenders in my head are S2000's, VX220's or go for something of a budget track car with an old MX5. Thing is, the Clio has been a fairly trouble free vehicle so it seems silly to get something much older and probably more problematic.

I bought the on site fuel, probably more expensive but it was convenient and meant I could get back out on track quicker.
Thought it was about time for an update. Been trying to keep a steady stream of things happening to the car over the past few months but has kind of come to a halt at the minute. Been slowly planning and buying in order to make it exactly how I want. First thing to be bought was a boot net as used in the R26.R and Trophy-R Meganes. I love having a stripped out rear in the car but not having anything to stop stuff sliding forward is getting on my nerves. Given its for a much bigger car it fits in the boot surprisingly well
I spent the whole of December deciding if I want a cage or a bar to mount it off. But in the end I have decided to o down the Trophy-R route and have a boot bar made up to hang it off. So I currently have a metre and a half of CDS tubing and some 2mm sheet steel sat around whilst I wait for my mate to decide when he's going to help me make it up.
Before Christmas I had booked myself in for a steering wheel retrimmed by Royal Steering Wheels. I've got to say that Jacks work is brilliant. And it's made a real difference to how the car feels.
Was also starting to miss being out on track, so thought I would book a day somewhere I hadn't been before. Bit anxious but had a 2 hour drive up to Snetterton on Monday morning and what a day! Seriously addictive track to drive around and one I will definitely be going back to. Car performed faultlessly yet again although I think some new brakes might not be the worst idea now as I believe the car is still on its original discs!
So that's everything for now. Hopefully it won't be too long until I can get my boot bar made up and then the interior will only be one seat short of where I want it to be

Ideally i'm after another Sabelt. I did buy a GT-140, which is the next model up from my current one, but it's a bit too small for me to squeeze into. I may end up buying new but it's having £500 spare to get one and some sidemounts.
I'm running Michelin Pilot Sport Cups on track. They probably aren't the best but once you get them warm I find them good to use.
