Shuv's Racing Blue 200...................

Mate may I ask where you got those bolts that replaced the upper bumper ones in the engine bay? mine are looking nuff so I was looking to replace them with some more presentable ones!

cheers

Hiya Yiannis...

Saw your car on fb in a workshop. What you having done ?

I’m sure the washers you talk of are for a 6mm countersunk bolt. (At least that’s what I used - in Stainless Steel). A company called ‘Bolternatives’ used to be the place - not sure if their still around....(?)

But: eBay will have loads for sure. Just search “Aluminium countersunk washer”.

The below for example:

GOOD LUCK !

This is awesome, thanks mate.

My car is at the dealership because I'm chasing Renault UK to replace my radiator support bar, it's rusty so they should honour the 12 year anti corrosion warranty, let's see, should be interesting!

25 degrees. Not a cloud in the Sky and 1% chance of rain.May as well let the Clio see some rays for the first time in 2019  :tearsofjoy:

Monday is:

MOT
Tax it time
Aircon Re-charge
New Thermostat fitting
Lowered drivers seat-frame and associated parts install
And a few other minor bits.

Then looking forward to getting re-acquainted with it again :sunglasses:

**First wash today since being Ceramic coated; and sitting getting dusty in the garage for a while. Came up great.

Eventful day. Normal stuff for modding cars I guess....

Car went into garage this am as planned. So far so good ! :tearsofjoy:

Unwrapped seat lowering frame and a couple of the parts looked like a teething Shark had used them to soothe it’s gums :persevere:

So off to the powder-coaters they immediately went for re-doing. And to be fair Josh Wheeler who makes these frames refunded my costs for that instantly when I told him of the issue and sent pics.

Then the issue about the ‘cammed bar’ underneath that operates the seat slide / tilt mechanism then reared it’s head [I was pre-warned and pre-armed ready for this] as the 197 ‘shaped’ seat bar supposedly might have touched the lowering frame somewhere - the 200 bar which is straight - supposedly doesn’t]. And mine were originally 197 seats......

So a bit of modification was needed there. Luckily I’m in the game and no huge drama.

Went for the lowest setting [-50mm] of the -30mm, -40mm and -50mm options. Fitted the new Recaro plastic cover I’d bought to cover the now exposed bolts on the tilt mech of the offside of the seat - and the job was a good one. One quick perching of my voluptuous rear end into the ‘new pew’ was enough to tell me I like; and it’s dramatically more a case of now sitting in the car. Not on the car :sunglasses:

New thermostat and Re-Gassing of the Air-con proved painless; and on collecting the car eventually - I then remembered the MOT.....and was infact reminded by the pass sheet on the passenger seat.

The garage said nothing - so I presume it went through with no faults or advisories as i’d have expected; having covered an embarrassing 105 miles since last MOT.

***Temp gauge looks spot on too with the new thermostat in: sitting bang-on the second mark all the way home, moving or stopped: air-con on or not.

The car is looking outstanding, the Cer coat just gives you a less maintenance cycle and get extra protection, however carry on with inbertween top up coats like Carpro Reload. Let us know how the new driver position works for you. I'd love to lower my seats as well but last time I was on here I had see some very expensive options from Hungary. Glad to see a better priced version from the UK. I was wondering how much they would part with those templates....

Thankyou ! In the sun today; it looked on a different level to i've ever seen it looking before. Very pleased.....

Yes it got given two coats of CarPro Cquartz 3.0 UK. I then immediately bought some CarPro Reset shampoo designed for Ceramic coatings; and some CarPro Elixir QD for the same. Just protecting the investment !

Seat position is already one of my fave small-mods for not much ££££. If you can afford; and you have a hankering - i'd be the first to now say "Go for it".

when are we expecting you at track? :thumb:

Probably the same day you promise not to wheelspin past me. In 4th :tearsofjoy:

In all seriousness i'd do an evening one at Snetterton / one of those short-track days Bedford etc no worries. A full day doing wouldn't interest me.....

How’s the c2 going though speaking of track cars

ah maybe mate, i prefer the full day.
No rush to go out, spend half the day eating and watching other people. evening ones are alot more rushed and expensive for what they are!

Looking good! Good news on that MOT too. Can't get over that mileage though. Mine ticked over 93k recently [emoji102]

Up early doors for an interim clean. Managed to whip-round the outside in just 5 hours. Some of that due to looking like it was going to rain. Shortly after i took the pics - the sun came out :tonguewink:

Ceramic coating is growing on me. Slightly easier to clean. Water beads off like crazy = easier / faster to dry. So less chance of water marks etc. And applying a quick coat of CarPro Elixir QD.....designed for Ceramic coatings.....afterwards; is a doddle.

I had all paintwork, wheels, diffuser, mirrors, front blade etc coated with Ceramic. May well now have side screen trims, mirror plastics and the last few small bits done to 'finish it off'.....

***Also really glad i took the opportunity to remove the rear quarter decals before having coated too. It was suggested to me many times; here and by mates. I should have listened

The one 'Detailing / cleaning' thing that bugged me was the Orange haze i got when first braking from rusty discs after a wash. On gloss black wheels it was 'game over' from the very first junction.

So today was the first time out properly using BiltHamber Atom Mac. Sprayed on to the discs before you start; and forms a protective film on / semi-permeates into the discs to help them stop turning Orange.

HUGE improvement i'd say ! Hopefully wheels might actually look Black when i first hit the brakes now !

Enjoy the weekend folks :sunglasses:
