Shuv's Racing Blue 200...................

Do it the way you want it now for this car imo.
What happens in the future nobody knows and they'll have some resale value whatever. Do you really want to choose seats for this car based on maybe getting a few hundred quid more come sale time in the future?

Valid Ben. Again

Its about maximising the sale potential full stop. Not wholly based on the amount i get back.

I just think the plainer i keep them - the less i'm appealing to someone elses taste down the line and the more likely the seats will 'slip' into another car.

Rightly or wrongly.

Definitely smooth Shuv. My current pews are awesome. Definitely not the heavily textured ones, they just look cheap. My Merc had quite textured leather and it looked a bit cheap, the higher quality Nappa leathers look and feel much better. Guess the answer also depends on price differential. For a hundred quid per seat I'd go for a nicer leather. One of the cheap leathers my trimmer showed me actually had the number branded into the cow's skin still visible (good if you were going for a race themed interior and like the number 71)...

PMPL laughing at the number Branded in ! Brilliant. At least it didnt have a tail hanging out

My current thinking is smooth too if im honest. Mainly because its what i fancy. Also feel that might be more desirable later.

I'm going for the softest, most recommended and hence expensive of the companies he deals with for a hide / hides Simon. Im not gonna go this far and skimp on the actual leather. That would be nonsensical as you well know yourself

I'd go smooth with quite a firm leather for the seat and mid back area if your going full leather, if you go for the soft in these areas there is a possibility it could stretch, just get his advice before you decide, last thing you want is them to look like saggy Argos leather look seat covers :-( did I say smooth? Oh yes I did

You not going mid section alcantara? what about the stitching and thoughts on design?

Likely going for something like the below regarding 'panels' (As per standard) to give the seat some structure:

I hear your thoughts on firmer leather. He said the softer stuff would make the shaping / fitting a much nicer job due to its suppleness ?

He didnt even begin to mention that might also mean it might stretch on the flip-side. Which of course makes sense.

No alcantara for me. Deffo full leather. Logo i am thinking solid white 'RECARO'. Stitching colour i'm undecided on. That might come after iv'e seen the chosen hides in person.

Another barrage of questions to ask it seems ! Which can only be a good thing  Cheers for your thoughts.

@sevenfourate I'm with@Sean197. It goes with the Renault interior & personally I think totally smooth leather looks a bit cheap & plasticky. It really does come down to personal preference though & I'm sure whatever you do it'll look great Syer. You've not shown any tendencies to poor taste in your other mods.

I've gone for embossed Recaro logos mate, they just looked better. The stitched versions didn't look as 'factory'. The stitched renaultsport logos looked good though.

Thanks for your experienced thoughts Simon.

If going stitched; it needs to be a top quality job and have a really high stitch count imo. Cheap / quick jobs look like you got what you paid for and literally a little rough around the edges :anguished:

Without giving the game away (Feel free not to reply !)......are you having the RENAULT sport logo on the headrest replicated on yours. And stitched as was ?

With alot of custom stuff ive had over the years (Mainly golf bags, clothing, shoes, headcovers etc) i've always preferred stitching to printing / embossing etc. Each to their own

Anyway. Enough of my rubbish. When are yours due to land ?

These seats do look great actually & my previous comment was in no way a backhand!

I think if your going with completely smooth leather - you'd need to go with a matt / satin type finish to get rid of the risk of looking like you'd had them re-covered in Vinyl !

Thats the way i see it......

Is the smooth actually napa leather? If so, go for it mate, it's so much more luxurious.

At the end of the day, it's leather seats, you can't go too far wrong, but I have napa in mine and it's SO worth it in my opinion.

I also think it should wear better if treated regularly as there are less high points for abrasion.

Can't wait to see these mate!

Nappa is an overused term imo. Its a generic term for top quality / supple hide as far as i'm aware and Google tells me. But as mentioned i'm going for the best / most supple / softest my trimmer deals in. At this point anyway.

And i quote:

"Nappa leather is the general term for particularly soft, chrome tanned smooth leather of all animal skin types and fields of use. A distinction is made between natural, slightly pigmented, pigmented and sanded leather.Natural nappa leather is also known as aniline leather."

"Napa leather is a leather, typically dyed, made from kid-, cow-, calf-, lamb- or other skin by tanning. It is noted for its soft temper. It is a generic term in the leather field and has no distinct test for characterization.

The high points for abrasion / wear was a point i previously raised (No pun intended !!!!). And one i am 'concerned' about. Hence the now lack of diamond stitching making an appearance.

3M stitching. Not the foggiest what your talking about.

****Back to Google i go........

Yes mate, renaultsport logo is being replicated in white on the headrest. As for timing on mine, wouldn't like to say  Shouldn't be long I hope, logos currently underway and patterns being cut

Napa alllllll the way mate. It's more like a leather jacket. Look at your high end posh cars. There's a reason why they all use it.

Stitching, 3M as in the stuff they paint cats eyes with. Would just look grey but every now and then at just the right light angle it would light up like neon. I have some 3M shoes. They're amazing

How bloody exciting !

****Not jealous. Not jealous at all. Not fugging jealous

Hope to see them really soon then. Your interior is going to look incredible with them fitted.

Are you quite a big guy Simon ? (Seem to remember you saying that).

I've lost just over two stone recently.....so far......and this morning weighed 14 stone 2 lbs. And im approx 6'3. I have no issues with the backrest / height of the seats. Wouldnt want them to be alot snugger fit though. Maybe its just my child-bearing hips though
