13 hour stint at work yesterday scrabbing the overtime in. So really couldn't be 'bothered' with the outside today.........

To be honest as much as i love the outside shining - i can make do with a clean interior. So today got around to a pretty thorough interior clean / hoover etc including a few jobs / areas i'd been meaning to do for a while:

Seatbelts were cleaned by me not too long after i had it. But despite me being pretty anal; being an Engineer and as hard as you try - These Silver belts do get grubby. So lobbed some APC, Vanish and liquid fabric cleaner in a bucket. Left to soak and went and had breakfast (Sorry - back to crappy phone pics today):



Scrubbed with a nail-brush. Then soaked the lower part of the seatbelt for 1/2 hour. Scrubbed some more. Towel-dried and then left it in the wind outside to do the rest for me



Was also wanting to do the steering wheel. So Pears soap purchased (Thanks for the recommendation @nutnutwelshman )



Applied some soap onto the wheel with a damp sponge:



Wipe off and finish.....

Beautiful, Shuvster! Are you impressed with the Pears soap on the steering wheel? Also, did you unbolt the bar at the bottom of the belts in order to clean them, or am I right in seeing that you've just pulled it out to the max 'as is', and then trapped it in the door?

I just pulled it out Jimmy as you rightly saw. Alot of the top part of the belt never get's unravelled (Even with my girth !)....and the bottom part never touches grubby clothes either. So was only the middle bits that showed any dirt really.

Now out to tesco to print Mes's picture off. So will see how the wheel feels then !

Great, thanks for the info mate. This is something I need do, and although I'm not averse to unbolting the bar, it's good to know you can do so without. I'd noticed too that it's only really the middle part that gets grubby!

Glad you guinea pigged the soap for me, albeit it mine is going to be on £1500 seats lol...

Maybe get the girlfriend to try the soap first ? If she comes out in horrid blotches, a nasty rash and painful spots.....

After thoroughly towel drying; I only left for an hour max in the wind. When I went out they were 'just' damp but fine to use....

Could always turn heaters on and dry in-car, or get a hairdryer out.

Avatar is superb. Friend of mine did it. Made a nice job didn't he

8 x 6 (Biggest they do) gloss photo print in Tescos is just 58 pence ! Or a 10 x 8 in ASDA is £1.20. Save the pic on a memory stick or on your phone and print in store

Thinking we need to get on it. Might tackle it during the pre meet up clean. Although the car is an absolute mess so we may have enough on our plate.

If you soak in something decent topped up with warm water you can do most of the 'cleaning' from the comfort of your armchair.

Interesting trick with the soap. I've always used a steam cleaner and good rub with a microfibre, amazing how much grub comes off with just a bit of water.

Its a really natural and gentle soap that supposedly adds oils back into the leather.

And its about 50 pence a bar !

Really good thanks bud.. Leather felt as natural and supple afterwards as anything i've used before. If not better - more than likely.
