looking at the coolant header tank - i assume thats a renault one?

is the pressure cap up to it?

what coolant is in looks a bit "muddy"?

i know it might be OAT (red) coolant but renault usually run more standard ethylene glycol (blue/green) dont they?

ps - not critisms just interested in the solutions you found :thumbup1:

The header and cap are 182 standard items.. pressure wise it should be fine, it runs a standard coolant system pressure??

It is a bit muddy at the top edge in the header, think from what was inside the engine when i fitted it.. But the coolant itself is transparent. -and its just standard halfords stuff rated to over 130C

Mine has that orangey coloured coolant in it.

It was in it when i bought it but i remember wanting some for the alfa a couple of years ago (the orange colour) and could only get motul, it was for the latest spec engines and for, IIRC stuff with some magnesium parts in them.

MOTUL INUGEL OPTIMAL it's called.

Well today did a gearbox oil change, the recent cold weather showed that it needed doing as from cold, synchro performance was poor in some gears...

I decided to try Castrol Edge Syntrans, which is a known cure for a lot of gearboxes with synchro issues -only driven round the block so far, but from cold, shift feels much, much smoother  -I will report back in a week or so... I'm pleased considering the outlay.

sounds promising :book:

Well that's good news where abouts did you get it from mate? Thinking of getting mine done while its in for big service soon...

Its now been a month of running with the new gearbox oil, and can say shift response is consistently better especially from cold, the gearbox appears to have suffered some damage prior to the oil change on the synchro for fourth gear, as occasionally its a tad stiff going into fourth hot or cold -this will get sorted when diff is fitted..

I take it your sticking with the 200 box?

Will be interesting to see how it copes with the literally insane engine I see on Facebook that is growing in your laboratory!!!

Yeah will be with the TL-031 box, as it appears to be all synchro induced failures so far.

and shh that's secret haha
