Selling a cherished plate on eBay

Plate is currently assigned to my car.

Can i list it on eBay whilst its still on my car, then transfer it straight onto the buyers vehicle without any issues?

Or does it need to go onto retention first?

as long as you describe exactly what your selling you can more or less do what you want.

I would imagine it would be okay to list it whilst it's still on your car, though it's only a guess!

Can't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to anyway..

Yes. No issues with this. Just state that it is currently on the vehicle and any purchaser (after payment has cleared) would have to wait for the DLVA to process the paperwork.

I love it, but, its dead money and the car doesnt seem to be selling as it is...

ideal for your car, but as you say its dead money... more so if selling the car, try and gain back what you can.

you've got to be able to appeal to a certain amount of people with that im sure, I quite like the idea of it to go on the new tow truck, it would look quite cool on the way to track days with the clio on the trailer.
pending I obviously buy a 10plate or newer vehicle of course.

IME it's easier to pop it on retention then send the retention certificate off with new nominee details.

Well reg transfers have it up for £1200 but I won't get anything like that.

£750 I think is reasonable.

Thanks for the advise Adam. Will see what happens. If it doesn't sell it can go with the car.
