I think I'd go for cup chassis and manual to be honest, nothing to do with the auto box as I haven't used it.. I just like the concept of having a manual car. I'd be interested to know how many of you 200/220 owners would've gone manual if it was an option ?
Might have a test drive in one if my local 'Renault Sport Specialist' dealer (that may I add never has any Renault Sports in stock) get one as a demo.

Great to know that and I fully understand especially with the traffic statement. I think the auto would probably suit my needs better if I'm honest as I have only have the one car - but as above I just like the idea of a manual. I really really need to get myself in a 220 or any auto hot hatch as it's something I am yet to experience.

You need to live with one to really get the most out of it mate. The real joy of it is when it happens without you thinking. And trust me, it actually makes you more connected with the car. With a manual the very act of changing gear, off gas, on clutch, choose gear, move stick, off clutch, on gas takes you away from the driving experience rather than getting you more involved.
In a paddle shift (and let's be clear here, what we are talking about is STILL a manual, not a torque converter auto) you don't think, it's just vroooooom, next, vroooooom, next... etc.
All these folk banging on about "oh you need a manual for it to be a proper car" either don't like change, really like changing gear (dunno why!) or just like to moan about how good the old days used to be!
I live with both. If I could have a paddle shift in the others, I'd do it in a heart beat.
My problem with it is when the companies force auto on you VAG do it and its feckin annoying! seems on the Megane they have listened and its an option which is spot on.

So, I've just seen the best shots of it that I've seen so far on instagram.
I like it... but... I think it's the beginning of the end for Renaultsport when their focus is making it more acceptable to people who wouldn't normally drive a car like this. If this isn't normally the car for them, why is it being made that way? Do it properly Renault ffs!
Screw the amazing heritage, let's water it all down so we can sell more of them.
This is not the company that gave us the V6.
