Rs 250

Just read that the Megane RS250 is not being made at the Dieppe RS factory. If this is true does it mean its not a real RS .
Will Renault still make the Clio there?

Probably only until the end of this generation of Clio. Running a separate line for a relatively low volume product isn't especially cost effective.

Perhaps the question should be just how much it would cost to shut down manufacturing at the Dieppe facility, with the rellevant redundancy costs, etc.

I don't think the Megane RS uses any bespoke body panels does it? This obviously simplified assembly on the standard car's production line, however Ford have shown with the FRSII that specialist products can be produced on the standard line with just limited off line finishing.

That's the reason the 250 has a stuck on bodykit and isn't available in Liquid Yellow. It's made in Spain, I believe.

they dont make them in dieppe nemore no mass prodused like the standard ones. 197's were hand built in dieppe

yep all 197's were built in dieppe hand assembled. early 200's got the same treatment but now they are all mass produced therefore cheaper.

200's are still built in Dieppe, that's why you can still get LY paint on them. Full production lines aren't set up to do the multi coat finish.

This

Altough rumour has it Renault's production line is being set up to spray LY

I'd've thought they'd just scrap it like they did with the 250. Much easier for them!

I think those rumours come from a while back when there were plans to make a new Alpine model. This has now been shelved.

if thats the case maybe all buy 200 in ly paint finish and store them and make a bomb in a few years when they doo stop makin them in that colour :tongueout:

200s are the only rs, that are still made in dieppe.

megane is made in palencia, spain, i have been there many times and twingo is made here, half a kilometer away from me, in novo mesto, slovenia.

They won't make them in France, they don't like work do they! Lol! It is a shame though, just another 'how can we get more money' idea isn't it. They're ditching the passion and originality for profits. Although I suppose it is better to retain the RS models than have them axed due to costs!

As I said, there were plans for a new Alpine sports car that would've been made at the Dieppe factory (it is the old Alpine factory, after all!), but it has now been shelved. I expect that's the reason for moving R.S production elsewhere.
