Renaultsport National meet pics..why do all the clios look exactly the same???

Noddie £1000 on the exhaust is mad! Granted it is by far the best on the shelf system out there for the Clio at the mo but were you not tempted to go to a reputable custom fabricator and have them make you a fully mandrel bent sytem including equal length stainless manifold for that kind of money?! I know I would be!

Went for the Akra going from reviews, the alleged gains, the near OEM voume when driving normally, the CF tips and they're a renouned company for exhausts.

I dont mind paying a lot it its a quality item. Coilovers will be my next mod, just need to convince the wife.

I've had a look through the pictures and wasn't able to see a car that was exactly the same as mine?

Coming from years in the jap scene owning a Clio now is a bit frustrating! There is so little out there to do and in my opinion the products out there are massively over priced for what they are. It kind of makes you feel like you'll improve On some minor visual aspects of the car, use it for 3 years max and then move on. I would love to spend a fortune on it and am currently doing that but it's a very limited scene and not enough companies developing products for it. I truly believe these cars will be the end of an era and there isn't anything like the Clio for the same money. I wanted something new and that was as capable as my 96 spec jdm teg and I believe I've almost got that minus a trick differential!

Agree....I LOVE my Clio, but moddin' in my blood...I can't leave well alone but like many on here they will 'hit a wall' very quickly and move on. Not because the clio's not a fantastic car, but they want more than 'the scene' can offer. It feels like there are modded' cars being put back to standard every couple of weeks. Now I know everyones personal circumstance is different, just think if there was more out there, people would keep them for longer.....Its been a long time since JASE car pushed open that envelope....

When I say not the same, I don't mean that someone just ticked a different box in the options list....

So what do you do when you've changed the exhaust, matched the inlets and bought some coillies and a set of speedlines/oz which you'll of course paint black.....

It could also be that people are modding them to quickly. As opposed to doing the mods over a longer period of time, its eems as though people do "everything at once"?

They then get bored and move on.

The point of the thread is that everybody that Mod's (apart from Kevo, Sean, Jase, etc that have taken it to lengths) just put on a cup spoiler, front spoiler, coilovers, zorst and a few stickers here and there and occasional wheels.

Your clio looks like most other peoples just in a different colour. Mines is the same, my clio looks exactly the same as everybody elses R27s.

Hahaha how did you know what I was gonna do to my Clio? You forgot the cup spoiler....

sorry and the cup spoiler....(he,he,he)

I went to Ford Fair last year (cough, cough) and it was absolutely brill. The car park was as good as the show. Cossie engine transplants in everything. big bhp..Rs focus's...loads of varibles of the same theme. None of the just a flick through the RS options list.

Its this that keeps the scene alive, and pushes car manufacturers to improve the cars cause they want a piece of the millions spent on moddin' them

Take a look at vauxhall's VXR options list. Reads like a add in a moddin' mag...All its missing is the girls in hotpants

I aren't going to defend it, the mods are well overpriced and limited.

So lets hear what you would want to see. There is little point in whining there isn't anything available, sitting around waiting for a few companies to wake up. Lets establish what people want and take it to them!

Just one thing... No bodykits

Nobody wants bodykits!! That era is over thank god!!

I would like to personally see more exhaust options / designs available. An option to upgrade the exhaust manifold ad I think there is a good gain possible from that. Some better developed intakes incorporating the skuttle panel to intake the air like the ep3 hondas.
Some engine dressing options designed for the Renault sport fans
More coilovers options other than kw
More brake disc options
Front splitters
More affordable carbon fibre products
Crazy rear spoilers like the j's racing style ones that go onto rear windscreen would look nuts
Different attempts at wheel upgrades than oz / speedlines
More and better piggy pack ecu upgrades

I could personally go on. These are just my opinions. There is stuff out there that could make these cars look and drive awesome but maybe someone needs to deviate from the norm and the few bits that are available and look to other markets to go in a different direction. I will do over time bit it makes the process take longer in the research aspect and cost side of things!

I'm not knocking anyone cars by the way or if you have gone the norm route with upgrades its cool with me as if still looks awesome just same same if you know what I mean!

Litchy why did you get me started?!! You got me thinking now and wanting to spend more money...

I don't do cosmetic or mechanical mods anymore purely on the basis that I know within 12 months I'll want a change regardless of whether I've managed to gain 3000 ponies, a set of afterburners and an AP Racing parachute.

If it ain't broke and so on......

That's why I've now got an ever improving '69 Alpha duetto spider nestling in the garage. Restoration over questionable modification is the future.

Couldn't agree more......absolutely spot on. Like I said, the base car is superb starting position.....
Current Tuners
Jamsport..1x supercharger (nearly) TDF...nothing, RS tuning...nothing, Ktec....nothing. They are only offering what I could buy anywhere...just go on europerformance parts and order them on line. In some cases cheaper than renault tuners.
I know they are great out the box but so are porsche's, and they are still modified. What I can't understand is this car is the acclaimed best small hatch by many. Look in evo, its a giant killer on the twisty stuff. Does make you wonder why no one has taken it to the next level....

watch out Renaultsport....Corsa VXR Nurburgring - 202PS, bespoke bilsteins, LSD, Brembos...and thats out the box. 2/3 years time, these will be a used bargain....a few tweeks 260bhp easy

I want my inlets matched. I can buy a set secondhand, have them matched locally by a race/rally engineering company to a very high standard, keep my original ones from the car, and it would still be cheaper that sending my ones to a 'specialist' and I wouldn't have a spare.

This is how we can make things cheaper....For example. I hope to buy a spare set of inlets this week. This will mean when mine are done, I'll have a spare set. If I then get these done, someone can have them for the price 'only' of getting them done, once they return their original set back to me, once the new ones are fitted.....

The forum could work on the same principle for wheel refurbs. steering wheel trims. Would only need someone to have garage space and a booking out system...

Another thing about the 197/200 "scene" is when you modify your car eg. add a little bit of carbon, your a chav.

Go on the RS forums and say your done something to your car, you end up with nothing but abuse. The usual its perfect out of the box attitude. I do think theres an air of brand snobery surrounding the 197/200 scene eg. the mags say my car is better than yours.

Good point.....maybe your right.....pushing the envelope is about taking risks. The scene seems more like waiting for someone to do it first....If this clio was a vauxhall, ford or VW, there would be a good few with R26 engines in already....the clio's been out 4 years+ are we have our first supercharged clio....quite funny really.

Woody, the last bastion of modded clio's on this site, car's is up for sale. I think that speaks volumes. Cliosport, those guys would lose a kidney before selling their 172/182. The average shelf-life on here is 18mths before movin on. The other funny thing is generally, people are movin on to different manufacturers...you would think it would be the meg 250?

I will be a little jealous if n0ddie buys woodys coilies because with some spacers on that would be one nice looking Clio!
