Remapping for noobs!!!

Hi all, I've made the decision to mod the car after saying I wasn't going to two weeks ago. I'm not going to go nuts, I only plan to fit a scorpion cat back system and ktec induction kit then get the engine remapped to reflect these changes and hopefully get a bit more torque.
Now, I know absolutely nothing about engine remaps, I've never had it done in any previous cars. From what I can gather on this forum there are different types of map (crackle, pops and bangs etc) that can be applied to the Ecu. Can anyone with the knowledge tell me about the different types of maps and describe what effect it will have on my car.
Also are all these maps on some sort of a database for remappers to use or are they made up by the mapper on a car to car basis? Ideally I'd like to get a bit more fuel economy during normal driving at low revves and get some more grunt when I'm pushing it

Any information you can give me on this I will be very greatful
Thanks.

I highly doubt there is a database of maps. The likes of Paul at RS Tuning, and I'm only speculating, may have a range of maps on his own computer which he can preload onto a car when it's on the rollers. After all the mods that people carry out on the cars are very similar, exhaust, induction kit, possibly cams and so on.

The likes of crackle maps will rape your cat, so not advised unless your fully decatted.

A specialist, like RS tuning will look at an individual car and work it like that.

its complicated in terms of how it works so i wont go into that but...
you can get a standard remap from such as ktec that you could apply yourself using there device, if you visit there site you can find this easily, they offer the crackle map and such.
Other than that your looking at a more expensive custom remap specific to your car with its mods, you can ask for slight improvements but these will likely be minimal.
As an example my remap at rs tuning was 450pound which for me was worth it as it was to get the supercharger working but as you dont seem to be planning further mods than a standard map from ktec may be for you [emoji106]
