Redesigned lower engine mount (dogbone)

Hi there,

i couldn’t find any specific info about this.
There’s a redesigned dogbone mount available from Renault.
The old rubber design mount was replaced by a metal designed mount.

Does anybody know if there would be any benefits in “upgrading” to the newer design mount?

I wouldn't of thought so, as it's still a big rubber bush.
Powerflex offer an insert for them, much like they do for the old style mount.

Yeah I know about the Powerflex bushes.
My question aims more to a direct comparison between the old mount and the new one.

This was discussed not long ago in the OZ forum.

Thanks for the pictures marsch.
Good visual comparison.
Do you have a link to the Australian thread?

Still looking for answers about the technical aspects.
- Why was it redesigned?
- Is it stronger?
- Is there less movement with the newer style mount?

4 weeks ago I fitted a new aftermarket (febi) Mount, old style.
Now I’m just wondering if the car or driveability would benefit from the newer style mount?
