Question about MOT and HID kit

Hello guys,I just have a quick one.
Basically my clio is a 14 plate and it will be due to MOT in April,the problem is that when I bought it,it was second hand (only had 4000 on clock) but the previous owner fitted an HID kit, unfortunatly I didn't ask him about MOT I just didn't think about it,he left the HID box in the car so I will be able to write the details if required,my question is will my clio pass MOT next month or 100% it won't?

I have xenon conversion in mine and it passed the mot. But I do know my moter and told him about it.

Is it hids into the standard reflector lights or is it a projector retrofit?

Yeah the reflector is the standard one he didn't change that,he only changed the actual lights and of course he fitted that square box one (sorry I don't know the english for it haha) for each light the make is Hids-Direct looks like is quite a good make.
Because Renault rang me today for my MOT but if you passed yours I will go for mine as well,thanks

Woah there, slow down!

Big difference - mine is a proper conversion with projectors installed in place of the reflectors. Yours are bright hid bulbs shoved into a standard refelctor light - a big no go.

First off, at the very least it should have a beam pattern - as halogen bulbs are designed to have this, where as xenon lights need the projector to have this beam pattern. Secondly as I said, I know my MOT'ers, Renault are a different kettle of fish as they do everything by the book. Xenons should be A) self levelling and B) have washers fitted...

Ah ok I didn't know that,on the box it say that the light are h7r I don't know if that means anything?
Also where did you buy your projectors,can you pass me the link please?

They were custom built by a guy who used to be on here, not a cheap or simple job.

Have a look in my project thread and they are in there somewhere.

It's simple... remove the HID's and fit normal bulbs then after the MOT put the HID's back in. Sorted!

Haha I didn't want to do it can't be bothered mate,also will the light on the road be better with the projector on?

Well hard to say - you probably have a very good light output now just at the cost of blinding other road users.

Haha I actually checked when I posted that and you hadn't been online in a long time! I know you use Renaultsport forums a lot.

Mine still are very good, although the flap still sticks on the right hand side with the xenon if on for too long...

Must of been a bad unit, you could disconnect the flap wire it if it is a problem. I'm now recommending a different (more expensive)unit, mine have been fine, done a few now, getting better at them [emoji854]

They are the very fine wires, I am sure a fitted a plug, possibly a Deans connector that just needs unplugged inside the light.

This is what I can see from the top of the light unit.

Need a better picture, the switched wire is possibly piggy backed onto the high beam wire, if you take a picture of that and also the other entrance hole as well, might give me a better reminder. These all evolve as I do them, I find easier ways or better ways to do things so they always get better and better.
