Private Registration

...unfortunately my partner was involved in an RTA on the M25 on Friday...long story, but the car looks like it will be a Cat D (basically saved from total, and possibly serious injury by Abi's skill as a driver!!)....

The previous owner from new had a private plate which she sold with the car as it no longer matched her initials....so, if the car is written off and we don't take it back, does the Registration Mark now belong to my parter? Can we sell it? or does it go back to DVLA on notice of scrapping? No sure how this works so any help would be appreciated!!

It's yours if you have the docs surely, do as said above and retain it, thinknits 80 + 25 for a year.

To be honest, unless it's worth something to you, I doubt it would be worth keeping. Don't think it would be an easy plate to sell on.
