Oil consumption normal on a 197?

Dear members

My name is Rene and I live in the Netherlands.

Currently I am owning a 2007 Clio 197 with 154000km's.

The Clio uses 1 litre of oil every 4000km's.

The car doesn't smoke ore leaks, is this normal for the F4r engine?

When warm I drive it hard, but not on track.

From what I can see 1Ltr per 5000 Miles is OK but if you give a good look around the bottom of the engine just because there is no oil on the ground does not mean it is not leaking. Not knowing how hard you drive and for how long if you are worried get the engine tested or check the spark plugs for signs of oiling is best you can do.

Mine uses 500ml/5000kms. If you’ve got no leaks and it doesn’t smoke it’s fine just keeping topping the oil up.

I warm my car up by driving normal, do half an hour of fun, revving mid-high up to 7K.
300ml in 550km. 5W-40. No smoke and no major leaks other than some "sweating". 2006 197 190K km.
Seems on par with Type R engines, when you rev high and make them work, they consume oil, which is normal for high ps/litre long stroke engine design.
And let's face it, we do not drive new engines, which BTW are probably worse design with their piston ring clearances (due to emissions/fuel consumption cutback).
