Non starter

Evening all. Ive got a 200 cup , I drove home from work last night and everything was fine. Ive gone out this morning and the car wont start, its cranking over for a couple of seconds then cuts out ( i dont know if this is the norm on these ) ive had a set of jump leads on the car and still nothing. Still cutting out after a couple of seconds. Anything to look out for ?

Sounds like flat / dead battery

Possible earth issue or starter motor

If it's cranking I'd say potentially crank sensor. Jack the car up, take the undertray off and you'll see it on the gearbox. 1 x 10mm bolt, take it out and clean it then put it back together and see if it starts!

Mine just turned over and over and over when the crank sensor failed . Didn't stop after a few seconds as you're describing

Best thing is to plug in a decent diagnostics. Whatever the rac used told them my crank sensor was knackered and they where spot on . My pressure plate had smashed its head off

right so I've put a new battery in it this morning and still no joy. The fuel pump is continuously purging and when i turn the ignition on all the lights come on and then disappear as they should apart from the engine management light. The engine management light doesn't come on at all. This is making me wonder if the ECU has died on me. Anyone come across anything like this before ? We had a ton of rain and it was blowy as hell the night before this happened which is a bit strange

Mine did exactly this. I took the car for a drive the day mine died and it was absolutely smashing it down and then that night it died

Mine was an earth but it didn't turn over or anything.

Try a jump lead from the negative terminal to the engine and see if it starts then!

did yours crank over at all ? Mines trying to start but after a couple of seconds its stops cranking and i have to turn the key off and on again for it to start cranking again.

No mate I had no life at all but I guess it's worth a test.

It's definitely worth checking the crank sensor for how long it'll take you.

yeah thats my job for tomorrow i was a bit pushed for time this morning. Has anyone noticed if the eml light comes on with the rest of the lights when the ignition is on or if its the only light that doesnt come on ?

mines doesnt come on which is concerning me. I tried the fuse for the ECU but its fine. Im going to get out and check the crank sensor in a minute and see if that does anything

All done , checked the crank sensor. Gave it a good clean up and noticed that the clip that holds the sensor to the main bit of the wiring has broken so im guessing that it worked loose. Thanks for the help guys appreciate it all

Thought the issue was solved but it continues. Got up early to give the car a good clean ready to be sold and it didnt start again. Took the crank sensor off and cleaned it and it fired up then after i turned it off it wouldnt start again and its making a noise in the engine bay asif the fuel pump is priming constantly. The car fired up a little while later but it wouldnt turn off i even took the key out of the ignition and i could still drive it without the key. I havent got a clue what the hell is going on with this car
