Used the mk2 MX5 (The Avacado) at Blyton, it has a hot start issue so we can't turn it off apart from lunch!

It was 30*c at times and the old nail performed faultlessly, hammering around all day, water temp never budging from the mid-point, and embarrassing lots of quicker stuff as usual!





Unfortunately the Clio didn't like the hot weather so much and was hesitant on a couple of ocassions soon after starting at low speed and throttle. It's showing a check emissions warning but drives fine.

I flew to Spain the day after the trackday so haven't had a chance to investigate. Hopefully it's ok when I get back tomorrow night!!!...

Back in the UK now and Clio is still unhappy.

Have plugged it into a reader and fault codes are P0130 and P0135 which points towards one of the O2 sensors.
So hopefully a simple fix and back to full health.

I actually pretty proud of a 1:47 in this car as its only cost us £2k to put together and is somewhat down on power, only making 87bhp @ hubs or around 113bhp @ fly.

Those are the ones I fancy, the Sport yellow adjustable shocks sold as a kit with the H&R paired springs.

I have always been very impressed with Koni dampers and although they 'only' use twin-tube technology, having owned both previously, I would choose them over the mono-tube Bilsteins.

It's the top mounts -- bolt positions and centre. You can, of course, modify these but it's non- trivial

Ah yes...I believe I have read about Combrake top mounts as being a possible solution...but I'm not sure where, cost or what is involved.

Not good, need to find out how Steve got around this.

Yours is an 09 car so they'll fit fine. Nothing to do with it being a cup model, the top mounts didn't change until mid-2010 so yours will still have the larger top mounts, therefore the konis and h&r springs will fit with no issue.

More hairdressing stuff, but I did my first trackday in the MX2000 since it's been supercharged yesterday.









I'm popping a video together but it was just sensational!!

Feels like driving the most powerful naturally aspirated MX5 you can imagine! And the rest of the car just loves the extra power, it actually feels a well-balanced package!

So pleased with it!!

Lots of car stuff going on as usual, my partner has recently returned from Spain so we needed two cars again.
With the Clio ticking the practical box we were quite free in terms of choice, though with a house move planned next year wanted to avoid any finance.

I was looking for a e86 Z4 Coupe but ended up finding an e89 foldy top that I really liked! Not just a hairdresser's car this one, I think this is a fully fledged hair stylist's car!...





It's a bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing too!..



I've not forgotten about the little French Terrier though!

Last week I picked up some Compbrake adjustable top mounts and a spare gearbox:



The top mounts will be needed soon but the gearbox is just a spare as I know our cars have a bit of a penchant for eating synchros!

Last night I went down to Worcester to collect some winter wheels for the Z4. To help alleviate the boredom of the journey I challenged myself to complete the 200 mile journey for less than £25 (the wheels were £425 so I thought £450 was a nice round number).

As I rolled into the local petrol station at the end of the journey, the trip computer showed 36mpg - it's never been that high before!...



Mission completed! What a rockstar life I lead!!

This morning I worked out the actual mpg at 43mpg!!!! Are our cars known for underestimating fuel consumption on the trip computer?

I'm chuffed with 43mpg, and that was sat at 70 on the motorways when traffic permitted.

This excellent work from the little car has pushed me to ordering the suspension I have been mulling over for a while. Surely I'm right that it deserves a treat?!



I look forward to them arriving, even more so getting them fitted and the front end set up with the top mounts!
