Movement in gears

I've owned my 197 for a couple of weeks now, and when driving it i've noticed a small "knock" in the gears if i'm cruising and i've got my hand on the stick. It generally only seems to be in 4th or 6th. It kinda just has a little jolt.

Is not normal or...any one advise me otherwise?

Cheers,

Pete

I've felt this in 4th, when you leave your hand resting on the gear knob and it just slips down a tiny bit further. Think its normal tbh, nothing to worry about (i hope)

as far as i am aware it is normal mate mine does it to nothing to worry about. u will find other little daft things with the clio that u will think is a problem and it will turn it just to be another daft thing that all clios do

Don't drive with your hand on the gearstick!!! Puts undue stress on the linkages with the extra weight and wobbling.

Yeah normal mate, even in the mk2s. Anyone suffer with a sloppy stick that doesn't self centre correctly in neutral?

Really? I've always drove with my hand on my knob :tongueout:inky: (sorry had to do it)

Drove like that in all my cars.

TBH with the short box and no torque I can't find time to take my hand off the gearstick LOL!!

It is perfectly normal mine has done it for as long as I can remember.

Ben - not had or heard of that before. Will it just not sit between 3rd and 4th then?
