Mk1 Focus RS

Thats the Blue one with the 2 litre Turbo.

Anyone with a 197/200 had one of these.

Thinking about changing the wifes 197 for one.

Clearly will be 5 years older but have always fancied one.

She only does 6-7k per year so figure running costs would be similar maybe slighly higher on Fuel but depreciation much less.

Any thoughts.

A friend at work has one, look very smart but i don't know much about them to be honest. There are a couple around here though.

I'd love one of these, I've fancied one for the last 5/6years but never had the money. The GF wouldn't have one when we got the 197 (which is why I'm here ).

I'll own one eventually....

They really that cheap to insure Luke?

...I've looked at getting one of these before my 197. I love the look of them and they are much better to look at than the current RS. Did quite a bit of research and talked to various owners. It seems that each car that left the factory was slightly different because they were vertually hand made.....some cars can be better than others in terms of build quality and even performance.....lots of them have been messed about with by now so I reckon that a genuine 'as built' car with low miles will be hard to find. Hope that 197 you bought from me has been a good car for you!!

Thats good to know, shame I'm not in the market for one, negative equity + a wedding to save for means the Clio will be staying and my second car is on the back burner :worried:

My friends at chorley st motors have had absolutely loads....and many fast ford and performance ford feature cars. Friends girlfriends drives a pink one. Drove quite a few over the years and recently drove another one last week. It was stage one (about 265bhp), really quick and quite a bit faster than the eqiv.meg R26. I like the understated look about them also. All the important standard performances bits are really good quality. Downside- they rot, seen loads on ramp that needed welding. Engines are strong but loads of people have tried to push too much power through them and they have gone bang. Suspension is suspect and shocks need replacing even on quite low mileage stuff. The worse issues is PARTS in general. Its almost impossible to get parts for these cars. If you need anything, your paying top money for even the simplist of things.
These are really difficult car to afford to run daily and thats why 60% are crap....

I also fancied one of these, but as Litchy said, Ford have now got rid of all of their stock of parts, so if something goes you are stuffed unless you can find it at a specialist, and pay top dollar.

Also suggests it will be more difficult to repair accident damage with new parts, so lots may be written off in future, whereas previously the insurers would have repaired.

A friend of mine has had one for a couple of years and has had no problems with it. It's a lovely car, looks the part and is quite capable in the right hands. The only negative point I've ever heard from him about them is that some handle a lot better than others for some unknown reason...

The interior is horrible. It's a Ford. That would be enough to put me off.

Thanks for the feedback. I was worried on Rust & Parts Availability since Fords of a similar vintage seem to rust.

I cant believe Ford already dont stock parts for a car thats under 10 years old.

Looks like if it was an itch I was gonna scratch I should have done it 3-4 years ago before buying my Megane.

It seems some cars you can leave to big miles & age and some you cant.

Nice wheels, but the dash is awful and what's the deal with the blue steering wheel?
