Micah's Glacier White 220 Trophy

In the quickest possible time I've ever made to decide to sell a car and replace it with a new one, today marked the day of taking delivery of my new Mk4 Clio.
It has been a surreal few days and can't believe I have a Trophy sat on my drive! I don't know where to start, so let's do this chronologically...
I took the tube across from work in Holborn to Watford this afternoon, a lengthy journey of 'OMG, OMG, OMG, I feel sick!' and then walked to the Renault dealership, taking my time and enjoying the weather. As I turned the corner from Morrison's (stopping in to buy some Soreen and Ribena for the journey home) there it was, valeters buzzing around it, and it looked absolutely spotless. I resisted inspecting it and wandered in to meet the legend that is the man who makes dreams come true for @nutnutwelshman. It was a very quick process, he sells cars without the faff - inspect, pay, off you go - it's so refreshing!
Once in the car and navigating Watford to get on the M25 I hit shitty traffic pretty much all the way to my house in Kent.

Once I got home I couldn't help but admire the thing. You simply cannot compare these to a Mk3, Mk2 etc. it's an entirely new breed... and I ABSOLUTELY love it. This has confirmed I've done the right thing as it's delivered on everything I was looking for. I feel VERY special in it and in the flesh it is truly awesome, especially in white.
The driving experience is fab, it's quick, it's light on the steering, the cockpit surrounds you and all the creature comforts are only a fingertip away. What's even more bonkers is that the MPG was 42.9 in stop/start traffic all the way back home. When I started using the manual paddles in RS mode to fill up at Tesco after dinner, it has dropped to 37.1
I'm annoyed I can't drive it now till Saturday, I want to get used to it and have a bit more fun!

As mentioned before, it has the Monitor which looks like quite good fun. One thing I wasn't happy about, however, was the limited space in the boot. It's laughable. Paired with really tinny speakers, I was a little disappointed, so whilst stuck in M25 traffic, I thought I'd glance down and check out what was written on the door speaker covers, was it this 'Bass Reflex' stuff they churn out? Well, I did have a chuckle and exclaimed 'f*cking hell!' when I saw it...

It was clear the Renault Manager who had my car as his demo had no idea how to set up speakers, it now sounds sublime. The sub actually sits under the boot floor, so you lose about 70 litres of space I think. What a pleasant surprise though, I'm really made up!

So overall, I'm very happy with how this has all worked out. Yes, it's cost me a fair bit, but my god, I was ready for this step up! Can't wait for the next meet!

Looks lovely in white with those wheels! Did you get the akrapovic exhaust too? Must say that more I look at these the more I want to test drive one again haha

Sorry Micah - now dashing to work. But: Many-many congrats on the literally nearly new steed. A special day indeed for anyone.

Quick, toy-laden, emotive and frugal ? What a great combo. Bet your hugely pleased with your 'investment' already

And i have to say: i love the colour. Fresh in White.......It looks so much better in the driveway than the 'Black one' i fully agree.

Hope you two have a long and successful relationship.

ENJOY !

Nice car with nice colour! I did not know that Bose audio is available for option, not at least here in Finland..
Are those wheels 18" ?

Enjoy!

Lovely car Micah. Black wheels suit the white paintwork imo

Get a new thread started asap:grinning:

Thanks James, agreed on the colour, it’s has a lot of presence. Can’t believe it’s literally the same size as the Mk3, looks much bigger to the eye.
No Akra on this one as there weren’t many about with that spec, not for the money I was comfortable spending anyway. The standard exhaust is great as it is, especially in RS mode. A silencer delete is the best alternative so I’ve heard.

Yes, they’re 18” but the car feels very light on them, not heavy in the slightest.

Congratulations Micah, car looks bloody brilliant and I'm glad it all went smoothly for you!

I too am seriously considering the Mk4 however I would really love to keep the R27 too, but I don't think that's actually an option for me currently. I think the next step would be to finally get a test drive in one, but not so surprisingly when I drove to/past my local 'Renault Sport Specialist' dealer the other week I didn't even see one on site.

Look forward to seeing plenty more of this car. Well done mate!

Thanks Matt, it's been a very smooth process indeed. It's hardly given me any time to really think about it, so I've now got to put up with it!
The Mk4 is a million miles from a Mk3, it all depends what you want from a car. If you did decide to sell up, then at least good R27's are commanding a decent premium. I'd highly recommend a test drive, and make sure you get to try it on the lanes and have ample chance to switch from full auto to paddle shift. The car is surprisingly very good in full auto, especially when you just want to kick back. The car comes alive in RS mode and makes a nice parp on the upshift.
I'll shut up now, but as you can see, I'm well and truly converted.

Love it. Would love a mk4 as a family car, keeping the 197T of course. Problem is, I couldn't resist 'modifying' the thing!

Not many mods you can/need to do Sean, maybe an exhaust system and air filter but that's it. There, I've eliminated your problem, off you go

I'd 'need' B14's, breathing mods, intercooler, and a remap. Then I'd be happy for a few months haha

Stunning mate, absolutely stunning. Love the Mk4, I really do. Good choice on the colour too.

Nice one to Kev for helping you out, seems like he's done you proud.

And yep, that looks like such a massive upgrade compared to the old 200. Super pleased for you Micah.

Here's to many happy miles ahead!

Road trip planned yet?
