Micah's Deep Black 200

I can bring some ptfe on Sunday and do it for you if you like?

Just be careful buddy - as i've read of a few (most ?) being really hard to remove - even with a warm engine.

This has resulted in some snapping / being snapped. And apart from the stub now rattling around in the inlet manifold in that situation; the car is then somewhat stranded.

Not trying to be negative in light of your stupendous offer, just pointing it out........

Micah, this isn't the result we were hoping for mate! As Ben said, I'd get the map sensor secured for a starter and then give her a drink of nice fuel and get out for a drive on roads you know well, with the aircon off. See what you think then.

And also as Shuv said, get straight on to TT and see if they have any thoughts on it.

Fingers fully crossed for a swift and painless return to former glory.

Is there a possibility of an element of negative placebo and you were expecting more than you got? Driving into the wind can make your car feel like crap for sure.

I might just keep it in place with a zip tie. To be honest, I wouldn't have called the garage until I had a chance to drive it some more, but it was rush hour and had to cook dinner and do some more work. I'll give Terry a call in the morning and see what he thinks and then I'll go for a spin tomorrow night.

@Mes Yes, totally agree with the placebo effect, it's been 2 days of anticipation and you end up getting hypersensitive about these things. I really need to take it for a blat on some familiar roads and see how it compares.
All in all I have no concerns about what has been done to the car, I've every faith in TT hence why I'm feeling 'relatively' calm about it at the moment.

Hopeful it's going to be totally fine Micah. Definitely get the map sensor tied down. Good luck for tomorrow.

After a night of worry and actually dreaming coolant was leaking out of the passenger door recess (what??) I got up early to drive round the block a couple of times.
I found the only two zip ties I had and went to bodge the map sensor. One zip tie wasn't enough so joined the two and completely fudged the task. Luckily I have a Robert Dyas opposite my work so should get some more today!
It still feels like it's holding back a bit, but once it gets going it is pretty rapid. I actually feel quite reassured and will probably get someone with a stock 200 to try it on Sunday and see what they think. Will be giving Terry a call when I get off the train just to talk it through. Having read that timing can be out by just one tooth I do wonder, but can't see a place like TT getting it other than spot on.

I hope Terry can ease your worries Micah.

These cars can be a nuisance:excited:

Plus the fact I'm the world's worst worrier, Ben :tongueout: (well, joint first with @Jimmy)
So I gave Terry a call earlier and we discussed it - we both can't see how it could have been incorrectly fitted as obviously all the right tools are used, and I have every faith in their ability. Worst case scenario I can take it to them and they'll test drive it and see if I'm being a drama queen. Will pop out for fuel tonight, in anticipation of Sunday's frivolities, and give it some more beans. I can't help but feel it needs it's neck wringing more than usual, which is kinda fun also!

Be fine Micah

Amount of times I've thought there's something wrong with my car, God I hate to think.

Sometimes what works for me is I drive another car (usually my GFs fiat panda), and it reminds me how good mine feels.

That works !

Or cut the grass at work like I do on our ride on mower.

The odd Clio rattle or noise worry soon disappears....

Just had a catch up read Micah - sorry to hear about the hiccup, but hopefully that's all it is. Terry sounds like a good bloke and it might well be worth having them take a test drive, as they've offered? I do agree it could possibly be placebo and you expecting something 'more' after having that particular work done to it??

Definitely joint first  I do totally symapthise with you though mate, I would be exactly the same in your position - the thing is, we all know our cars sooo well, and anything that's not 'normal' - be it a sound, rattle, 'feeling' etc - we notice it right away. The fact we also put our hard-earned money and time into them just increases the paranoia!

I really hope you get to the bottom of it and you can get back to enjoying the car - you, like me, clearly want things to be just right in order to be able to fully enjoy our Clios!

Disappointing news, having sent the clip to Shuv and Mes, they've confirmed my suspicions in that the car is not right after the belt change. This is foot to the floor in 5th from 50 to 70.

As I said on the phone Micah, it's definitely not right!

Fingers crossed strongly for a swift and positive outcome.

Pants timing!

Just means you and Shuv need to make up for it on the next one!

You'll get it sorted fella. Hang in there.

Worth noting that it's not only Matt and Terry that work on the cars. I say this with no disrespect intended (but from a past experience), that specialists can also make mistakes. Hopefully you get to the bottom of the issue with a swift resolution

Comedian, mechanic and stating your suspicions in one subliminal post. Very clever Mes

Seriously: looks like it almost restricted. No urgency, no go and sounds flat as pancake.....defo not right. Its not even close to 'normal' IMO.

Cant believe you havn't got warning lights on its so far removed from what it should be.

Best of luck buddy. Sure they'll sort you out. Just a case of how and when !
