Matt's track/nurburgring RS250 Clio f1

All done now lads cheers for the help the fan is now blowing in the correct direction, bloody hope that's the reason as some have mentioned potential head gasket which I really hope it isn't

If it was the head gasket mate, it wouldn't even withstand an arse kicking on the road!!

That fan blowing the wrong way would stall the airflow and reduce how much managed to flow through the rad.

I hope so I really can't be dealing with that sort of issue right now haha nurburgring trip in 3 weeks

Just try and give it a fistful on the road mate, or load it up and left foot brake to simulate a good kicking. It'll generate heat and highlight any issues.

Kicked the absolute shit out of it on the road and can't seem to get it to go above normal temps, but saying that I never tried to do it prior. I'm hoping it's sorted and nothing worse

Update...I seem to have found a small drip of coolant front the lower hose on the bottle that when moved evolved in to a larger drip, after removing the pipes I found that the lower neck on the coolant bottle was mishaped so I'm hoping that this may also have been a course for the overheating I experienced as if this had allowed air in surely that would affect the cooling.

Anyway new bottle, engine mount inserts and dog bone mount inserts all waiting to go on before my nurburgring trip on the 27th of this month....I'm also think the hole cutter may be used on the front bumper for more air flow.

Good to hear that you've sorted the overheating issue - guess these things may have played a smaller part in it.

I have to say - not a massive fan of holesaw + bumper - though appreciate there's some functional reasoning for it - have you considered some ducting from fog lights?

Got round to fitting powerflex upper and lower mount inserts along with lower dog bone mount and new coolant bottle...must say the car vibrates a lot my then my Megane did with engine mount insert and vibratecnic dog bone mount but hey track car.

The old mounts had seen better days

So I had the head gasket sniff tested and thankfully no yellow liquid so we are all good...it's very hot today and sitting in traffic and driving sits on or just over the 3rd line even after a good blast but on a speed run (private road of course) it goes up to the 4th then back down to the 3rd. Is this normal? I have no idea what these run like in hot weather on track etc

In heavy traffic i.e. prolonged jams, mine went to just over the third line, but I had a TurboGauge plugged into the OBD port and it showed a water temp of 103degrees  That was with a Clio rad though and a rubbish ebay intercooler. In normal hard driving the water temp never went over high 80s, and low 90s on track.
Best bet is to get something like the TurboGauge (only about £45 brand new on ebay) and check the temps with it. You'll be able to check inlet temps too i.e. how well your intercooler is working.
